Thunder fan hits half-court shot, money to pay for wife’s cancer treatments (VIDEO)

Mar 6, 2013, 1:03 PM EDT

That is a money shot.

It’s always fun to see a fan drain a halfcourt shot — but that $20,000 means a lot more to Heath Kufahl than it would to just about anybody else in the building that night. From the Oklahoman.

Heath’s wife, Jenni, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in October of 2012. The money will be used for mounting medical bills.

We wish Heath and his wife the best and hope the money helps. It was fun watching him win it.

The nba should kick in another 20k what an awesome story.

that ends up not being much after taxes. NBA or thunder or even thunder players should kick in something for such a story.

20k is equal to less than 5 mins of playing time for durant or 6 mins for westbrook. (even less considering they don’t play 48 mins)

No, how about Magic Johnson pays the bill for these people instead of offering up a million for what would be a staged win for lebron, or for spending hundreds of millions on guys who still ain’t gonna bring a world series to L.A., besides he should appreciate how expensive medical bills are….

The really, really sad part is that $20,000 won’t go very far for her treatment. Health care system is all kinds of jacked up. They did an article in Time last week where they went line by line through a hospital bill. No surprise, many items making 10,000%+ markups

I think the Lakers need to pick him up A.S.A.P!!! We could use somebody that can knock down a open jumper!!

He promised his students $100 each, and is now breaking that promise. I know he is doing it for a good cause, but he shouldn’t have made a promise if he didn’t intend to keep it. Some of those students would not mind what he is doing, but others will never look at him the same.

funny thing about this story is that the dude was actually a lakers fan but the OKC organization MADE him wear a thunder jersey and play along….
