Too bad the Thunder and their fans can’t get past just beating the Lakers. If that team could muster half the enthusiasm and hate they have for the Lakers and channel it into actually winning something I just might change my opinion of them.

Funny how all the Lakers-haters crow when the Thunder just “whipped, crushed, hammered” a .500 team. Whooeee, what ball-busters! Literally, figuratively and sarcastically. Where were all you Thunder jock holders when the Lakers owned that franchise for longer than you’ve been alive?

What’s truly pathetic is that those who can’t stand the Lakers 1) don’t support any team (they just hate the Lakers) and/or 2) have been fans of teams that don’t win on a regular basis and/or 3) fans of teams the Lakers have beaten on for years. Enjoy this down cycle while you can, the Lakers will be back and then y’all will have to go back to kicking the dog and sulking in mommy’s basement.

4 years ago, the OKC Thunder won 23 games. Nobody was calling them a contender with a second-year Kevin Durant.
The year after, they were an 8th seed eliminated in the first round.

And a better example of a title window closing quickly is the LA Lakers.

The LAKERS don’t match up well with Okc, especially without Pau. However, enjoy it now, Thunder fans, next year will be very different. Funny how they look like world beaters against my LAKERS but look like scared little boys against Miami. Okc will never win a title as presently constructed.

Yean but if you give him credit when they go in you likewise have to give him some blame when they don’t. I don’t think Kobe is the reason they lost, but his play down the stretch didn’t help. At the end of the day the Lakers just aren’t as good as the Thunder right now and that’s why they lost.

Everything the Lakers do is magnified nationally. You don’t think the Lakers missing the playoffs would be a “national humiliation”?

The Lakers can still make the playoffs, and say what you want, but it’s a whole new ballgame in the playoffs. They probably won’t make a run at the whole thing, but that doesn’t mean they can’t win a series. Crazier things have happened.

I don’t think Kobe played great down the stretch. The ill advised 30 footer was a dagger. He kept the team in the game in the middle there but he shoulders as much blame for some bad shots at the end of the game. Just like Dwight deserves some blame for being pretty much invisible.

Well, unless you’re actually on the Lakers, your attitude has zero impact on anything, so whether it’s optimism or quitter, no difference. Bottom line is they built a team to win a title and they’ve played so poorly that even if they make the playoffs every single playoff series would need to be an upset. This is a hugely disappointing season for them and sneaking into the playoffs will make it no less so.

Last night Kevin Durant was average(for him), the Lakers shot 40 FTs on the road (16 more than OKC), and were never within a single score after the first minute. If that’s what you guys call improving, there’s a reason you’re going to miss the playoffs. Durant will be better next time, the FT disparity won’t be there, and the Lakers will be another day older on an already old, aging team.

I didn’t think the officiating was great but at the end of the day the Lakers did not score for the last 6 minutes of the game, and you can’t win games that way. They opened up cold and finished cold. If they had been able to make a few shots in the first and last 5 minutes this game could have been closer.

He’s been playing with an elbow injury for a few games. That said, he appeared to aggravate it last night off the ball when he over-extended it trying to create space against a defender, not when “someone stole the ball from him”.

I knew all the haters were waiting for the lakers to lose a game to trash them. For the people that are saying this game proves they will get swept out of the first round just don’t know basketball. Lakers still are improving as a team, dwight is getting a little healthier and they are getting a freaking all star back in the lineup in pau gasol. He may only play 20 minutes a night but that will make a huge difference for their bench. You guys act like this wasn’t a 5 point game in the fourth quarter.

If lakers make the playoffs the first round will be over a month from now, and they will still have kobe bryant and dwight howard. They already proved they can beat oklahoma city on a good day so it’s not inconceivable that they can win a series.

Maybe the loss shows how much better the Thunder are than the Lakers? Seeing as how the Thunder are the best team in the West right now, I don’t necessarily think this falls entirely on D’Antoni, Nash or whoever…The Lakers just aren’t a good team right now and cannot compete with the speed and youth of OKC
