Yes, the T-Wolves are obviously a team beset by injuries to their core players, and the Heat are just much better in any case.

But I can’t imagine you actually watched that game and said that “made no difference in losing the game”. Miami led throughout, yes, but Minnesota kept making runs to get within 5-6 pts, as was the case at the time Barea did what he did. From there it was a rap- Minny imploded and the Heat took advantage. That was the moment the game became a full-on blowout.

To be fair, Miami probably wins either way, so in that sense you are correct. But Minny had been hanging tough up until that point in the game.

What makes the T-Wolves a bad team is that they are playing a bunch of guys that have no business in the NBA.

If Wolves had the guys they expected to have…Love, Kirilenko, Pekovic, Budinger…your statement about losing composure would hold more weight. But, in this case, that made no difference in losing the game.

You may not like Barea, but you really should find a better reason. Because, the reality is that tempers do flare, and punches do get thrown in basketball. Barea is NOT the only player to have thrown a punch in a basketball game.

Spot on. Barea lost his composure and then the rest of the TWolves followed suit. It’s part of what makes a bad team bad.

The kickout that got called on the 3-point attempt was an obvious call and has been a point of emphasis for officials of late. The charge was the right call as well. You wanna say the Barea should have stayed in the game with a flagrant 1, fine. Everything that happened after that is on the Wolves.

You can argue that Barea might have gotten off with a flagrant 1, but the offensive fouls were totally legit, and I’m sure Addelman got his money’s worth as well. Sorry, but the Wolves as a team lost their composure, and that’s the biggest reason they got blown out at home.

As a Heat fan I would not have been enraged had this been a simple flagrant 1, but hard to argue against a flagrant 2. I agree that the timing made the hit look worse than it was, but that’s precisely why rules are in place to protect players- people can get hurt when guys make a hard foul at the wrong time. It’s one thing to get hurt on a basketball play, it’s another thing to get hurt because some guy decided he wants to check you into the boards. What isn’t up for debate is that Barea did not make any sort of basketball play whatsoever, he just got low and threw his chest into Ray Allen.

NBA officials are horrible, as are basketball refs at every level, rec ball, middle and high school, and college. However, try watching an NHL game, they make the NBA look competent.

What likely incense Adelman as much as anything was the disparity of when calls are made. A little over a week ago, when playing the Warriors, Jarrett Jack didn’t like a hard foul by Stiemsma, so Jack throws a forearm/elbow directly into the chest of Stiemsma, while play was stopped, right in front of all the refs, and no call at all was made (much less an ejection). You could see Adelman making a motion like throwing a forearm while arguing the call.

I truly believe that fans, coaches, players, everyone would be able to adjust to however you want to call it, but it is the inconsistency in officiating in any sport that drives everyone crazy. The NBA may be a little worse than some other sports though, when you have the “he won’t get that call until he is a bigger star” syndrome.
