Kobe says he would have smacked Ibaka in the mouth after a foul like Griffin’s

Mar 4, 2013, 5:14 PM EDT

There are times it sounds like Kobe Bryant is channeling Dalton from “Roadhouse” — “pain don’t hurt.”

With the Lakers having an off day after a win over the Hawks — and before a much tougher test with Thunder Tuesday — Kobe was asked about Sunday’s other talked about play at Staples Center where Serge Ibaka basically punched Blake Griffin in the groin. Kobe’s reaction, thanks to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.

“I probably would have smacked him in the mouth,” Bryant said after practice Monday at the Lakers’ facility in El Segundo.

Griffin can take care of himself. Except he didn’t in this case because he was on the ground in pain after he got punched in… his private dunk contest, let’s say. That is where Kobe went Dalton.

“I would’ve dealt with the pain afterwards,” Bryant said.

Because pain don’t hurt.

We’re all still waiting to found out what the suspension (what it should be) or fine Ibaka faces is.

any article with a roundhouse reference is A-OK with me!

    • Mr. Wright 212 - Mar 4, 2013 at 5:23 PM

      Peter Griffin approves.

    • Maurice Barksdale - Mar 4, 2013 at 10:06 PM

Roadhouse is the best bad movie of all time.

    • money2long - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:57 PM

i love how people bring up chris childs when trying to poke fun at kobe when away from the nba setting, kobe would break him.

    • fanofevilempire - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:26 PM

I got Kobe against Chris Childs today, Kobe is a lot tougher today.

Ibaka is a real Bi-atch to hit another fella like that in the nutz.

      Metta has Kobes back

  4. rjlink1 - Mar 4, 2013 at 5:33 PM

“Next time he run up on me im goin in his mouth. That’s a promise.”

THE BLACK MAMBA would’ve taken a bite out of that a$$. Tuesday in OKC should be fun!!

    • dacapt704 - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:04 PM

Kinda like did against Chris Childs and Reggie Miller? Please…as much as I RESPECT Kobe…a tough guy he is not

      • money2long - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:41 PM

yea, you derived all you need to know about kobe’s toughness from a few seconds scrum in the nba that was broken up. haha

    • skids003 - Mar 5, 2013 at 7:55 AM

Yeah, real tough guy. All mouth. He would’ve gotten his handed to him.

  6. lowtalker - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:10 PM

tough guy . . . . . coming from the guy who did what he did to the tennage girl in Colorado.

    • dirtydavis - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:19 PM

“Kobe is one tough SOB” said no one ever

  7. lowtalker - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:11 PM

tough guy . . . . . coming from the guy who did what he did to the teenage girl in Colorado.

    • tampajoey - Mar 4, 2013 at 9:50 PM

      that girl is no saint.

  8. losanginsight - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:11 PM

Blake didn’t react because he wasn’t really hit hard. He reacted as if Messi kicked him. Flop city is a joke and will stop getting calls when they flop down the stretch.

    • lmoneyfresh - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:56 PM

Not sure you have the required equipment, but it really doesn’t take much to drop a guy with a hit to the stones.

      • dgforreal - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:11 PM

Yeah a glancing blow (no pun intended) or even a near miss is enough to drop a guy.

  9. themars211 - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:18 PM

Is hitting someone in the nuts a prerequisite to play on a Euro national team? Batum (France) and Ibaka (Spain). Kirelenko is now on the clock….lol

  10. patfic15 - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:28 PM

Sure Kobe – Chris Childs Reggie Miller…

  11. Mr. Wright 212 - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:38 PM

Kobe haters in here en masse, Kobe dotted Reggie’s eye. Child’s stuck and moved. You act like he stood toe to toe with Kobe. He hit him and ran lmao

  12. hatesycophants - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:44 PM

A terrible movie reference and a terribly written piece. Also, add is not short for advertisement.

You’re just not very bright. Nothing wrong with it, but no way around it.

    • riders008 - Mar 4, 2013 at 6:54 PM

If you think Roadhouse is a terrible movie then someone should kick you in the nuts…..

      • jimeejohnson - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:41 PM

Roadhouse kicks ass. Swayzee was incredible and Sam Elliot was, too. Ben Gazzara put that flick over the top.

  13. aldavis4president - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:41 PM

I don’t see why people keep talkin about child’s..Kobe elbowed him 1st den childs got him back den he ran away from Kobe…miller on the other hand..LOL

    • Mr. Wright 212 - Mar 5, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Kobe duffed Reggie. Even the announcers (I recall) were remarking about Reggie’s face.

  14. jimeejohnson - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:48 PM

Ibaka and Griffin were going at it the whole game. His block on Matt Barnes in the last minute of the game sealed that win. Ibaka doesn’t have to resort to hitting opponents in the nuts. That makes him look like a cheap shot artist deserving of derision and ridicule. The Thunder need him doing his thing or they won’t win anything, again.

  15. hatesycophants - Mar 4, 2013 at 7:58 PM

If you like homoerotic fantasies, you’re right, it’s a great movie… for you.

  16. iamjimmyjack - Mar 4, 2013 at 8:08 PM

That should pump up every laker. They better win this game and put the rest of the west on notice. The lake show ain’t going nowhere.

  17. eugenesaxe - Mar 4, 2013 at 8:24 PM

And Kobe would receive no punishment either.

  18. drewzducks - Mar 4, 2013 at 8:35 PM

Did he think they were talking about Mrs. Ibaka ?

  19. claymatthewshairplugs - Mar 4, 2013 at 8:40 PM

Kobe can act tough when he has World Peace behind him to fight his battles.

  20. sportsnut101 - Mar 4, 2013 at 9:03 PM

Chris child’s is rolling on the floor laughing at this. Aww Kobe woulda smacked him what is this wwe. Man up Kobe knock him in his face.

  21. westcoastredbird - Mar 4, 2013 at 9:49 PM

Griffin flopped! Just like James Harden when Metta tapped the side of his head with his elbow. Phil Labeer approves.

  22. blakspartan - Mar 4, 2013 at 10:14 PM

you should have done that to Chris child’s

  23. dangernearing - Mar 5, 2013 at 7:55 AM

When did Kobe become street? That two piece from Chris Childs calmed his behind down like ritalin would.

  24. frankyvito - Mar 5, 2013 at 8:29 AM

Wasn’t Kobe like 20 when Chris Child’s hit him in the clavicle & ran?
