Warriors’ Lee, Pacers’ Hibbert both suspended one game for scuffle

Feb 27, 2013, 5:30 PM EST

We knew that Roy Hibbert’s suspension was coming — he threw Stephen Curry to the ground during a shoving match that broke out between the Pacers and Warriors on Tuesday night.

Hibbert has been suspended one game, as has the Warriors David Lee, the league announced Wednesday.

Lee will sit out Wednesday night when the Warriors travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks. Hibbert will sit out Thursday night when the Pacers host the Clippers.

In addition, Golden State’s Curry and Klay Thompson as well as Indiana’s Lance Stephenson each received a $35,000 fine for “escalating the altercation.”

I think the suspension for Lee is justified. Watch the tape above — when the shot goes up Lee gives Hibbert a full, blatant two-hand shove that starts this whole thing.

Hibbert came back at him and escalated it — he deserved the suspension, too, and may have only gotten one game because he apologized — but Lee deserved the night off.

It makes Wednesday difficult for a Golden State team that has just won three of their last seven.

For a pushing match? The NBA today…SMH…growing up a Bad Boys fan of the late 80s/early 90s I laughed when I saw this footage. Those DET teams had better scuffles than this in pre game warm ups! LOL

I’m sure the fight spilling over into the crowd played a big part in the suspension.

I hope Granger has his real comeback in him for Thursday. I have a feeling they just might could be able to use some fire off the bench.

David Lee does a lot of nothing during the scuffle.

Didn’t think Lee needed a suspension here, only Hibbert. Use your judgement NBA, and stop taking the easy way out. Hibbert clearly the instigator.

It wouldn’t spilled into the crowd if Klay Thompson hadn’t shoved Big Roy. Sorry but he and Curry took it from two guys shoving to a “brawl”. Which BTW, this has been so over blown it’s not even funny.

How did David West not get suspended? He was throwing punches.

What were you smoking before you watched this video?

West didn’t throw a punch. He got in the middle and started pushing people away from each other. Then he moved to the outside and was yelling at the last player from the Pacers that hadn’t gathered to that side of the gaggle of players/refs.

The following comment in the article is ridiculous:
“I think the suspension for Lee is justified. Watch the tape above — when the shot goes up Lee gives Hibbert a full, blatant two-hand shove that starts this whole thing.”

Lee’s shove goes on all the time in the NBA. If you can’t take that, you shouldn’t be in the league. Too bad the Pussers won the game.

Curry should have been suspended. The refs were breaking it up. He had no business getting involved.
