Someone at Nike and or in Lebrons camp has to be smart enough to see the potential here with what this video just did. You are going to start seeing these cell phone videos pop up randomly till the end of this season from pre game warm up dunks, then over the summer of Lebron in a gym or some pro league game warm up, then build it up to the dunk contest next season. Nike could build an entire new “underground viral video” campaign. And then Lebron wins the Dunk contest, and no more questions.

Well, Russell Westbrook was a candidate for the dunk contest a few years ago in the fan vote-in spot, but the fans did not vote him in, they voted Rudy Fernandez in instead.

At the end of the day, LeBron is the biggest star of all those people, of course he will hear it the loudest. He also continues to be compared, fair or not, to players like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, both of whom participated.

My question is this: why don’t we hear complaints about other stars not being in the dunk contest? It seems like only LeBron gets the ire of the fans because he’s never competed in a dunk contest. I don’t hear Durants name being tossed out there like “why hasn’t he done it?…” Or how about Russell Westbrook or Derrick Rose (before his injury)… These guys are at least as athletic as LeBron, and they are younger than LeBron. Let hear some call-outs for these guys as well.

Easy for him too …. thats was half-speed pedestrian type of dunk, I’m sure LeBron can put any dunk in, just don’t know if he has an arsenal of creative ones or if he really cares about that.

When guys suck at dunking they sign paintings, jump over vehicles and blow out cupcake candles.

Really no point for him to ever do it.

everyone that was in this year’s dunk contest could do that dunk. this isn’t a knock on LeBron at all because he was just messing around in warmups and he is a very good dunker. But those guys were good dunkers and threw down some very good dunks.

But I think there would just be more hype around the dunk contest, the stars would miss dunks just like the other guys because the basketballs aren’t the balls used in games. Also, we would probably get some ad space dunk as the winner like the Blake KIA dunk.
