Report: The Miami Heat are talking to Kenyon Martin

Kenyon Martin has been waiting for his chance. After a respectable season with the Clippers last year — 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds a game — he wanted some mid-level money and multiple years at age 34.

It didn’t come. Nothing came. After a while not even one-year deals for the veteran minimum were available. The Clippers didn’t want back a guy who, let’s say, has the reputation of a disruption in the locker room.

But now a team is in conversations with Martin and he might go from the sidelines to a contender, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

This is not done. Once the trade deadline passes some players around the league will get bought out and the Heat are going to wait to see who else may be on the market. Also, the minutes are limited as Chris Andersen was already picked up by Miami and took minutes from Joel Anthony. But the Heat are looking at the playoffs and thinking they want some size on the bench.

Martin’s energy and defense certainly are a fit with Miami, and in a strong locker room with Dwyane Wade and LeBron James everything should be fine. Just something to watch going forward.

that would be great to see, kenyon always plays hard and him and he’d be reunited with the birdman

Strong locker room with Dwayne Wade? I’m sorry, heat fan …. but Dwayne is the biggest punk on the court ever, his attitude reeks onto his teamates, refs, coaches …. LeBron is calm and focused and when they are playing well he keeps them having fun, Dwayne to me is a great player but last year in the playoffs he could have costed them everything from his play and sluggish leadership.

As for Kenyon martin …. very good physical idea … Birdman and Kenyon some wild rim defenders and rebounders. Would be nice guys to come in harass Indiana.

This bum punk is running on fumes! Good luck with that. He’ll cause more malice then good.

I agree, I don’t like this dude. But he’ll have to fall in line if he does come down.

He would have to. LBJ & DW arent gonna stand for that. Nor Riley & mgmt.

Well, he couldn’t possibly contribute less than Dexter Pittman has, so why not? Still, it makes sense for the Heat to wait and see who else shakes loose from the tree before committing to Martin for the rest of the year. I mean, it’s not like he’s going anywhere.
