Report: Celtics making trade deadline run at Tyreke Evans. It’s a longshot.

Danny Ainge seems to have a fascination with Tyreke Evans. He’s made some calls in the past but always got the door slammed in his face when he tried.

But the Kings seem to have cracked that door open and Ainge wants back in at the trade deadline, tweets Marc Stein of ESPN.

It’s hard to see how this works. Evans makes $5 million this year and to match the Celtics would have to give up Fab Melo, Jason Collins, Leandro Barbosa, cash and pick and even then it may not be enough. No way they would move Courtney Lee in that deal, would they?

Talks are happening, but it’s a hard deal to pull off.

This would be a great move if the could somehow make it work.

I’ll always remember Evans for that epic helicopter video of him racing to his kid’s school. Hilarious.

If I’m the Celtics I’m blowing up the whole thing in exchange for youth and flexibility.

Move Pierce and then watch KG become happy to move out to the Clippers.

getting tyreke and keeping rondo pierce and kg would be an amazing thing to pull off. and even though tyreke and rondo aren’t jump shooters, for some reason, i’m liking that combination , a lot, if it happens of course. it’s hard for me to see it coming to fruition however.

“An amazing thing to pull off”? Let’s see… Rondo can’t shoot (though I do love him as a player), Evans can’t shoot, KG and Pierce combined are 80 years old….that’s not exactly the Celtics of the 80’s.

The Celtics probably realized it by now, the trade for Garnette and Allen was just a short term fix to win a championship or maybe 2. That window is over, time to rebuild.

The easiest way for that to happen is for Garnette and Pierce to just retire after the season. They have made their money, the Celtics will not win another championship for sometime.
