they come out behind, because they pick up a contract that’s 1.5m larger in udrich and a lots less productive. which is what they want. since it’s been obvious, for those of us who actually pay attention and have a brain, that orlando have been throwing the season for picks since before the season even tipped off

because they’re pushing for the playoffs and they get better production in redick than they do in udrich and it saves them about 1.5 million in cap space.

if you don’t understand this trade, then you’re obviously don’t understand basketball as a business. the magic are trying to get worse, redick was there biggest chip, so they were obviously going to move him. the bucks get a solid back up to ellis/bench scorer in redick, they weren’t looking for a starter here. they also get production at a reasonable price and pick up a player still on rookie contract, while moving beno udrih’s 7.37 million contract, which reduces their luxury tax. Redick’s contract is also expiring, so they have essentially traded Redick, a player with a PER of 16.3 and a $6.1m 1 yr contract for a less productive and more expensive Beno Udrih, PER of 13.9 and a 7.37m 1 yr deal. The Bucks may not even try to resign Redick, but that doesn’t mean this deal doesn’t make sense. With a spot in the playoff looming, production will be higher with J.J, and cheaper too

Well, maybe Lamb or Harris will surprise people and flourish in a new environment. Better than letting JJ walk for nothing, and since we managed to rid ourselves of Ayon and McRoberts today I’d say we did decent.

I’m a die-hard Bucks fan & personally I like the The J.J. Redick deal vs. The Josh Smith Deal because Smith has already stated no desire to play in Milwaukee, he is lazy at times, complains when he doesn’t touch the ball x amount of times, etc… plus he thinks he is a max player when he isn’t LMAO. Redick brings a good work ethic, pure shooting & some defense so he shores up the Bucks 2nd unit.

Genuine question: What is the difference between getting expiring contracts and letting a player walk as a free agent.

I maybe misunderstanding this deal, but they traded Reddick for basically no value just contracts that are expiring. Well if the fear is Reddick not resigning with the team his contract is basically “expiring” too. Why make the deal? I might be looking at it wrong but they didnt get picks or any other cash considerations with it.

This deal makes no sense to me. The Bucks trade for a guy that can’t start at his natural position so.. unless they go to 3 guards… has to come off the bench. They let Monta walk next season for nothing so that they can have the privilege of over paying Redick… a guy who only avg 15 ppg on a bad team in a contract year. Check his numbers when they had Howard… not impressive. In two years are the Bucks really going to have a lineup of Ish Smith, Redick, Dunleavy/Moute, Ilyasova and Sanders? Yuck
