1: It's not like you can just ship Garnett to the highest bidder even if you wanted to. No trade clause means he determines if he stays or goes. He could have retired last year, but chose to come back to play with the current Celts.

2: You don't trade the most beloved player in recent Celtics history when all you are being offered is expiring contracts and draft picks.

And don't confuse current Celtics ownership/management with the people post-previous Big Three. This one is more set on winning and bringing in players.

Hopefully someday the wizards will be relevant again. Dump Whitman and everyone not named Wall, Beal, or Vesley and start over...again.

It's a very smart move for the Wiz. He won't touch the court for Boston unless Garnett/Pierce can teach him how to be a professional. People bashed the Ariza/Okafor trade, and dumping Blatch. Blatche is averaging 10 & 5, but does have a nice per of 20.

Okafor (who the rest of the league gave up on) - 9 pts , 8 rebounds, 1 block, almost averaging a double-double with a PER, slightly above the league average, at 16.69.

Trevor Ariza (amazing defensive presence on this young team) - 8, 4, 2 and the defensive leader on a very young team.

We had a rough time since the Arenas playoff days when we were the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA, making the playoffs each year and losing in the first round. We had to completely overhaul the locker room to get rid of so many players who could never mature, and now are bringing in vets to help develop all of the young talent on the team.

Ariza, Okafor - 2 great defensive players who play with hustle. Throw in Barbosa who is a close friend of Nene (who is averaging 13, 7 with a per of 18 while not 100%), will only help this team develop the young players. They will most likely have another lottery pick this year and aren't allowing young players like Vesely to be contaminated by the minds of Blatche, McGee, Arenas). An older experienced coach can help them all develop individually but it couldn't be done within one lockeroom, which is why the other player involved, Crittenton, is now facing charges of assault with a firearm.)

It is a slow process but not every team can draft players like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Ibaka, and Harden in back to back to back to back drafts. Please tell me how this was a bad move for the Wizards after reading this, and realizing this gives them 2 million more cap space in the future which can easily help attract a player for a 1 year contract if need be, or secure another vet to help develop our younger players. Look at how many guys have been continuing to work out just hoping to get the league min. I'm sure some more Denver boys would be open to the Wizards down the road if they could play with Nene again. Wilson Chandler? Raymond Felton as a solid back-up to John Wall or Beal since we know the Knicks aren't going to keep him around too long.

The Wizards regime obviously has no direction right now. This isnt a make or break move by the wizards by any means, but it just speaks to the level of stupidity in the thought process behind their moves. We could have got any other player with an expring contract to at least play some sort of minutes this year but we decide to get a dude with a torn ACL. Not a long term move by any means just the principle that bothers me.

It appears that just like when the Celts wouldn't let go of Bird and McHale, they will do the same with Pierce and Garnett. Looks like they might be doomed to another 20 year stretch of mediocrity.
