Actually Darko was drafted in 03. Pistons won in 04. That year they were swept by the Nets in the Eastern Conference finals.

You’re a year off. They drafted Darko after they lost in the 03 ECF to the Nets. They beat the Lakers the following year, with Darko on the bench.

No, Sheed was there. Remember they drafted Darko right after they won the championship against my Lakers. They had both Wallace’s. There was no need for Darko despite my boy Prince’s contributions. SF was still their weakest position.

The Darko draft looks way worse in hindsight. He had just drafted a small forward the year before that played amazing during the playoffs. Melo and Bron were both small forwards and D. Wade was a point guard at the time. No Sheed then either. Their biggest need was in the post considering Mehmet Okur was second best post player.
It’s really tough to draft in lottery when you’re in conference championship. The lottery is usually full of teams drafting best player available because they need help at EVERY position. Probably should have grabbed a more proven Bosh though.

bad trade, this will be similar to when the Knicks acquired what they thought was a 3pt specialist in Roger Mason, going into it it looked like a good idea, but when he came he sulked and couldn’t throw a rock into the ocean.

I know right, he was more of a bonus in the deal (or so we thought)..the only downside was his player option for next year, which it doesnt look like he’ll get to exercise in the QC. HOPEFULLY we can get a banger on the boards in return

I miss Ben Gordon’s scoring in Chicago, but $25 million is too much for a small guard who plays like a 2 with the height of a 1.

And drafting Darko over Carmelo, Bosh,and Wade. Even Kyle Korver and Zaza Pachulia were better picks than Darko. Joe Dumars is top 10 worst GM of all time.

We traded Corey Maggette for Ben Gordon and a first round pick..just to take his salary off of the Pistons (we just wanted the first round pick)..He is kind of being wasted on our team anyways because we are full of guards..so I wouldent mind them sending him off to a team where he can have a better role if we can get some size in return..just please NOT Kris Humphries!!
