Clippers’ Ryan Hollins kicks Jeremy Lin while he’s down (VIDEO)

Feb 14, 2013, 12:44 PM EDT

Ryan Hollins, get out your checkbook, because that is going to cost you.

Houston’s Jeremy got banged around pretty good Wednesday night. First came the play where he tweaked his wrist after getting knocked to the ground on a drive. That happens.

But a few possessions later Lin stripped Ryan Hollins of the ball and tried to push the ball up the other way, but as he did Lamar Odom committed the European style “stop the break with a foul at midcourt” play that was nothing out of the ordinary but did send Lin stumbling to the ground.

And while he was down Hollins ran up and kicked him. Intentionally. It’s pretty clear.

Hollins has the reputation of trying cheap shots, but this one is going to cost him. A lot. Likely a suspension but at the very least a healthy fine.

And deservedly so.

I was saying it Sunday during the Knicks game (as well as last year when he was with Boston), but this guy tries so hard to act like he’s a tough guy when he’s the farthest thing from it. I guess being around KG makes him think he can’t get dropped. He better be glad guys are worried about getting fined or suspended for reacting to the stuff I’ve seen him do over the past 2-3 years.

Glad to see you post now cause we didnt see your posts during that or other Clipper victories.

      • Mr. Wright 212 - Feb 14, 2013 at 9:57 PM

Maybe because I have a life and don’t live on here? I like your nerve to even try to pull this when I am here (when I am not busy with the bigger fish that I have to fry) whether the Knicks win or not.

      • dannymac17 - Feb 15, 2013 at 11:25 PM

We know you don’t have a life. Get real.

  2. somekat - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:01 PM

Almost funny how he deliberately kicks him, then throws up his hands like it was an accident

  3. jerdogthompson - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:10 PM

    Paleeeeessseeee

That was a non freaking issue. He merely was trying to kick the ball while Lin was holding it. You guys need to get a life (especially the blog writer). Move on.

    • eventhorizon04 - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:51 PM

….If you understand the rules of basketball, you’d know that “kicking the ball while somebody else is holding it,” isn’t a basketball play.

If he hits the ball with his foot, it’s a “kick-ball” situation, and the opponent gets the ball.
If he hits the player with his foot, it’s a foul and likely fine/suspension.

Therefore, there’s really no intelligent reason to ever attempt to kick the ball when somebody else is holding it, especially if the guy is falling to the ground having been intentionally fouled by a teammate already.

Don’t be so sensitive Ryan. Own up to it.

  4. slumdog66 - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:16 PM

He was kicking the damn ball. I can’t believe this is even a story.

    • smeeefy - Feb 16, 2013 at 4:14 PM

Why would he kick the ball? Either way he’s a moron.

  5. aldavis4president - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:26 PM

In other words, he is either an illiterate gangster or an illiterate gangster wannabe. Most likely the latter, as Raiders fans are kind of pu**yish.

looks like one of them Ndamukong Suh kick to me

  7. alildusty - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:34 PM

i must say hollin’s has some pretty fast feet. it’s pretty obvious it was an intentional kick and no way he was trying to kick the ball. you’re an idiot if you think that.

    • jeremyhurst - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:45 PM

If you’ve ever seen him play basketball before (2 season with the Cavs I watched) you’d know that’s how he shoots the ball. By flailing uncontrollably nowhere near the basket and not even touching the ball in the process.

He was simply trying to shoot a foul shot, here.

Source: Ryan Hollins is hilariously bad at every aspect of basketball.

  8. emosnar - Feb 14, 2013 at 2:39 PM

The Clips were up 16 at the time, i guess that is a good time as ever to kick someone. Kurt and his band of followers get a grip.

    • Kurt Helin - Feb 14, 2013 at 8:25 PM

There is never a good time to kick a player.

  9. redwards29a - Feb 14, 2013 at 3:30 PM

This isn’t a great video. They showed the whole thing in slow motion during the broadcast. If you watch the slow-motion replay, you’ll see that Hollins was not only trying to kick the ball, which was LOOSE at the time, but he actually did kick the ball, which then hit Lin.

If you’ll pardon the misleading video title, here’s a very slightly better video:

    • asuthyo - Feb 14, 2013 at 4:01 PM

That video makes it even more obvious that he was trying to kick Lin. Just because he also hit the ball doesn’t make it any different. He literally kicks Lin in the stomach/chest.

      • libertarianvoter - Feb 14, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Your reaction to the video makes it even more obvious you don’t pay attention much. Watch it again… carefully this time, Sherlock. Hollins begins his motion while Lin is still upright, and therefore, was not intending to kick Lin while we was down (which would make Hollins a sociopath), but was instead trying to trip Lin or kick the ball (which merely makes Hollins an idiot).

Confusing result with intent is something children do. Grow up.

  10. sdl65 - Feb 15, 2013 at 6:28 AM

Fines or no fines this guy should have gotten pummeled. One word “intent”. He meant it it was no accident. Therefore he gets dealt with accordingly. Bush league BS. Then he’s got the balls to throw his hands up like he didn’t mean it. WTFE!
I hope they at least suspended this clown and fined him. Never heard of the scrub anyway

    • manchestermiracle - Feb 15, 2013 at 10:12 AM

WTFE? Is that the Canadian equivalent? WTF, eh?
