Knicks are 14-12 in their last 26 games after a 18-6 start in their first 24. I know they lost Felton for a month but that is alarming. Offensively Melo can hold his own with anyone. But in other areas the Deficiency's in his game are glaring. Defensively he's given more effort but he still doesn't have the energy to go hard on both ends for 35-38 minutes a game. As the season wears on you're seeing Carmelo take defensive possessions off more and more. Kind of defeats the purpose of making a shot if you're just going to give it back on defense with little effort. Facilitating wise he's still to greedy to make the extra pass to an open teammate, instead always choosing for that tough shot that only goes in less then half the time. If you want to hold the ball that much, you have to be at least a decent facilitator. Even Iverson and Kobe average(d) 5 assists a game!!!

Funny thing is, Melo isn't giving up on his MVP hopes because that's what he truly wants. Only out of the first round once in his career and that was when Chauncy Billups held his hand to the conference finals. Lebron would have said he didn't care about MVP's, not because he has 3 but because it's all about winning. Melo said like a month, month and a half ago when his MVP talk was at it's peak that the conference finals would be a successful season for the Knicks. Could you imagine giving this guy 20 mill a year and making the conference finals is a successful year for him?? Lol I couldn't. But that's the point, Carmelo hasn't given up hope on MVP but he has on winning a title. Even if he's being a realist, superstars don't talk like that. Kobe is still talking title and look where the Lakers are at lol. That's the difference between a star and superstar. Melo would be great playing second fiddle somewhere like D'wayne Wade is in Miami. But as long as he's the top dog in town this is what you get. Accept it!!

MVP race is too early to call.

I think roughly around this time of year last season, Durant was ahead of LeBron before OKC went through a rough patch near the end of the regular season, so being ahead at this point doesn't mean much.

30 games or so out of 82 is plenty of time for things to change.
