Howard’s people have made it clear he has no interest signing in Atlanta. They are adamant about it. For that reason the Hawks will not trade for him.

No, the only catch is that Miami would never be dumb enough to do that deal. They need what Bosh provides to them, which in addition to basketball skills includes an unselfishness that they certainly wouldn’t get from Howard. Plus, trading generally healthy guys for the injury-prone is seldom a smart move.

Howard for Chris Bosh. Both teams need what each player brings with them. Only catch is that Gasol is hurt for the Lakers. But before that, I’ve been pitching this trade for a while. Not sure if the money works out perfectly…but Heat get a center who can block, rebound and score when needed inside. Lakers get a true stretch 4 who can shoot all the way to the 3, not to mention athletic to run and decent at defense.

If you’re trying to design one-sided deals that heavily favor the Lakers while screwing over their trade partner, why not suggest a Metta World Peace + Scare + Clark + Ebanks + Jamison + Meeks + Blake trade for either Durant or LeBron?

Josh Smith is earning $13.2 million this year.
Devin Harris is earning $8.5 million this year.
That’s a combined $21.7 million in incoming contracts.

Meanwhile, Sacre, Clark, and Ebanks combined are earning $2.8 million.

The Lakers would need to need to send an addition $18 million in contracts to the Hawks for the trade to work. And nobody wants Pau Gasol right now.

That’s still available, but the issue is there aren’t any quality bigs who are sitting at home unsigned this late in the season.

The biggest names are Martin and Amundson, and at this point, both would probably accept a minimum deal rather than spend the rest of the season out of basketball, which would make it harder for them to get a contract for next year.

Wouldn’t it make sense to trade Dwight to Atlanta for Josh Smith &/or a guard?? I mean, Dwight is from ATL so he’ll probably have no problem resigning with them & the Lakeshow can use Smith at the 4…paired with Gasol at the 5. D’Antoni doesn’t want to keep Gasol and Howard on the court at the same time..but if you get a true PF in Smith and have Gasol (who is a great passing big man)at the 5…only thing they have to worry about is aquiring an above average PG

I agree with you about the coach signing, but the style of play for each of their players should have actually been a good fit. Nash is a distributor, Kobe is a scorer, metta is a defender and shoots threes, pau is an interior post presence, Dwight is a defensive anchor.

In theory, this team should be playing together beautifully, so I don’t know what you think would be a better assembled team. The problem has been injuries, Dwight Howard not being dominant, and the fact they don’t play to their strengths all the time.

Lakers give up Robert Sacre, Earl Clark & Devin Ebanks
Hawks give up Josh Smith & Devin Harris.

Hawks get front court depth and another C so they can move Horford to PF, and two SF to replace Josh Smith, Lakers get needed G depth and another big to help

Yes, they’ve got plenty of injuries, but the last thing their roster needs is another big man. What they need are some young, quick guys who can actually play D’Antoni’s up-tempo style. (Unless they just scrap D’Antoni and get somebody who’ll use a system that matches the personnel they currently have.)

I have NEVER seen a team put together with less regard to style of play. They’ve signed guys (including their coach) based on just their names thinking everything else would magically fall into place.

Why would they need another big guy? D’Antoni’s offense does not need them. He already pulled one of the best starting forwards of the starting line and put him on the bench. He is probably excited the he does not have to play as many big guys, now he can play small ball and no one can question his coaching. This is like bad karma, the team hired a coach that does need or like big guys and the big guys are all getting injured.
