Brooklyn Nets announce Deron Williams out next two games

You see this a few times every season — a banged up player taking a couple games off before the All-Star Game to get an extended break and get healthy for the stretch run.

To that end, the Nets have announced Deron Williams will miss the team’s two games this week — against the Pacers and Nuggets — to help rest inflammation in his ankles. He’s expected to return after the All-Star break. Basically, he gets 8 days off between games to get healthy.

Brooklyn will miss him this week, however, facing two good teams playing well lately. We can certainly discuss how Williams has not been as explosive or impactful for the Nets as he was for the Jazz, but he’s still giving them 16.7 points and 7.8 assists per game. It’s a drop off on the roster after that.

Expect to see a lot more C.J. Watson and the ball in the hands of Joe Johnson a lot more.

Deron Williams was not an All-Star.

How did this guy go from a top point guard in the league discussion to being pretty much universally reviled? Probably when everyone realized he is an overrated coach killer that undoubtedly has a huge diva attitude. RIP Jerry Sloan. You were greater than this guy will ever be. Rant? Absolutely, but this guy brings it out of me.

Just shows you who the real tough guys are. Stockon could put up with Sloan in his face for 12+ years, and be tough enough to deal with it and win lots of Western finals, but Deron Doucebag can’t handle a little constructive criticism and melts down, starts whinng for a trade. Now he got P.J. in his face. Karma.

Maybe they’ll win now. Tony Parker made him look like a high school player the other day.
