Report: Nets, Bobcats discussing Kris Humphries for Ben Gordon trade

The Brooklyn Nets are looking for a way to space the floor — they take the seventh most threes in the NBA, 21.7 a game, but shoot just 34.8 percent (21st in the league). Teams clog the lane on the Nets, try to take away Brook Lopez and easy driving lanes for Deron Williams.

The Charlotte Bobcats need… what don’t they need? But sure, they could use more presence inside.

So the two are talking trade, reports Chris Broussard at ESPN.

The Bobcats would save a little money — Humphries makes $12 million this season and next, Gordon makes $12.4 this season and $13.2 next season.

Howard Beck of the New York Times tweeted that the Bobcats proposed this deal. Which means they like it, the question is do the Nets. Rick Bonell of the Charlotte Observer tweets that the sides have talked but nothing is close.

Humphries is averaging 6 points and 6.4 rebounds a game, his shooting percentage has fallen off to 42.4 (worst for him in five years) and he is playing a smaller role in Brooklyn. He remains better known for having been married to Kim Kardashian for 72 days than he does for his game.

Gordon is scoring 13.1 points a game and is shooting 41.7 percent from three (which is what should intrigue Brooklyn). On a Bobcats team that needs points Gordon has the green light and he’s played fairly efficiently with it despite having to take on more of the offense on him.

As a Pistons fan, this upsets me a little bit. We had to include a 1st round pick along with Gordon when we traded him to Charlotte. It’s nice to have Maggette’s expiring contract, but I would have rather had Humphries and kept the pick…

      2 words: Billy King

Maybe it was Jay-z’s doing. Prolly wanted to help out Kanye and overpay Kris so Kim K. wouldn’t have to pay alimony since he’d be making as much as her? IDK but SOMETHING is going on, I like Kris game but that contract is SUUUPER unwarranted.

Because the Nets needed him to have a high salary for trade ballast. At some point (probably next summer), they would have been well-positioned to use him for a good player on a bad contract. They’ll be even better positioned to do that with Gordon, who lets them take back $1.5 million more than Hump would next summer and provides some value beyond just his expiring contract.

true 12 million is too much but he was averaging a double-double…not many guys still do thtat. Aside from the jokes about him, he’s a very quality rebounder, which we desperately need here in Charlotte

In other news, Kim asked for an emergency divorce today. FBI SWAT team was sent to Nets game to enforce the decree and ordered Khris to make some jump shots. His lawyer told the media that Khris was mentally incompetent by depression aka Lamar Odem 2011.
The new TV reality show “Khris Honey Nutt: aires on April 1st.

The nets are dumb first for giving him 12 mil a yr. max was 2 yr 18 but if u noticed. They gave Wallace bad contract. Seems like dwilliams is a bad n joe johnson enough said n Lopez gees they went beyond for him overpaid by 15 mil easy.

I understand the owner don’t care but he will when they bad again

They wanna trade kris to get into Dwight Howard bidding in summer. Gordon has expiring contract. N if they can trade Wallace or they will be in that hunt. They need him they think

I like nets the way they are. Play brooks more. Ok his def is not the best but he’s young he has to work harder at it. But last time I check dwilliams wasn’t great at d either everyone always scores n him

Gordon does not have an expiring contract, he makes more than Humphries next year (technically Gordon can opt out of the $13.2 mil, but no way he does). And even if they traded Humphries for an expiring the Nets would be about $2 million over the luxury tax line and could not bid on Howard.

Haha, yeah right, what a waste of a post. Jay owns what, like 1.2% of the team? Meanwhile, Prokorov is one of the wealthiest men in Russia. You can indoctrinate yourself with as many Jay and Kanye albums as you want, does not change the facts.

You’re right but remember Prokovo is always one midnight night arrest and Siberian salt mine livetime stay from Herr Pultin..All Jay-zz is nervous about is a divorce from Her Divaness.
