Great pickup. hustling bruising big man who could have helped a lot of teams. I was not aware of the pedophile accusation which is what probably scared a lot of teams off.

We never did a follow up because there has been nothing to report. We did one about how his agent said he was duped by a woman trying to blackmail him, and there has never been a charge against him. The case is still open technically, but if no charges are filed there is no crime to report.

Well, it has been a full year now since the investigation began. The Denver Post said quite a while back already that they’d seen documents that confirm that the woman making a claim against Andersen represented herself as someone of legal age and that at some point later somebody in her family demanded money from him.

His attorney has reasserted that not only did the woman claim to be of legal age, but that she was of legal age. Of course, none of us can confirm any of this, but I try not to allow my opinion of people to be tainted by second hand info, let alone sources upon sources upon sources, et cetera, et cetera, and so on, you get the idea.

As recent as January, I think, somebody in the sheriff’s office said that the investigation was ongoing. I dunno about now. If you wanna stay up-to-date on it, I’d recommend searching at denverpostDOTcom.

Andersen's home was the target of an investigation of a suspected internet case by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Andersen was not charged with any crimes.

This is an excellent pickup for the Heat.
He really fills the role the Heat so desperately needed.
He is probably the best big man pick up the Heat have had since Lebron has been there.
Now the question will be if Spoelstra will play him and get away from the small ball a bit.

We’ll see if he entrenches himself in the rotation come playoff time, but at least right now this appears to be a more significant pick-up than last year’s Ronni Turiaf acquisition. Birdman does a lot of the things Joel Anthony does for the Heat, but with better size, and a significantly better offensive game.

Not that having a better offensive game than Joel Anthony is saying much, but I can’t even conceive of a world in which Anthony makes a steal, dribbles 3/4 court, and then pulls out a eurostep en route to an and-1 layup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL0qAZ8fw4o

Since Bosh is soft as Charmin toilet tissue, Anthony is incompetent, Haslem is the size of a shooting guard etc. etc. etc.

Birdman will provide some DESPERATELY needed toughness to the paint !

That will relieve LBJ of a percentage on one of his 5 positions, he has to play every night !
