Joakim Noah out for Bulls Friday with plantar fasciaitis

This has to be a little worrying to Bulls fans.

Joakim Noah is out for the Bulls Friday night game as it appears he battles plantar fasciaitis again, reports Aggrey Sam at CSNChicago.com.

It’s not that the anchor of the Bulls defense is out against the Nets (although that’s not ideal), it’s that plantar fasciaitis appears to be back with Noah — back in the 2009-10 season Noah missed months battling the same condition.

Plantar fasciaitis is pain along the thick tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. It’s a wear-and-tear injury a number of NBA players deal with in different degrees but the only real cure for it is rest and time off your feet. Noah will not get rest over the All-Star break as he has been named to the team for the first time in his career.

There is no word on how long he will be out, but this is something the Bulls don’t want to linger.

Just to add to the challenge Chicago Friday night, they will face the Nets without Carlos Boozer or Kirk Hinrich, either. Boozer has a hamstring issue and Hinrich has an infected right elbow.

You can get a custom made orthotic foot bed for your shoes. If it’s made correctly, it’ll make all the difference. You can get a cortisone shot in your heel. That helps for a while, but you can only do that a couple of times. Rest doesn’t really help all that much, once the condition has started it rarely goes away. You can control the pain, even to a point where you don’t feel it, but it’s still there. Stop taking care of your feet and the pain will come back.
