Hopefully he plays well enough to be traded. Someone will give him a max contract but he will never live up to it.

The good part is Bynum will not get a max contract until he can play for extended periods. This leaves the Sixers with lots of cap flexibility as well as continuing to stockpile young inexpensive talent through the draft.

I agree with all the disdain towards Hawes but this team is built around Bynum so I would think that the plan would be to play the two 7 footers together and create mismatches using Hawes ability shoot to draw his defender out towards the perimeter…… Or perhaps it’s just wishful thinking.

i hope he gets his heart and soul in the team and the city of philly bc his body language hasnt been great thus far. He has a history of not being a passionate player

Try Vimovo, works in less than 1 hour , 1 pill and doesn’t upset your stomach for acid reflux( some times minor cramps) twice a day, twice a week or as you need it. Cortisone was not an option for my knee’s bone spurs. good luck .

Uhhhh, knee injections. I had cortisone injections in my knees and let me tell you, needles under the kneecap are not fun.

Bynum can get another injection right before all-star break, have a set back, not play this year, then come back by next year’s all star break and still be better than Hoeward. Go Pacers!

Bynum could have surgery to his knees and make them what they use to be but he would have to do it in Germany I believe and he would be out for over a year between surgery and the recovery. Risk and reward. I doubt he does that and loses money in the meantime.

I just hope they don’t go max contract with him after the season. That would kill them for a couple of years for sure. Bynum is done, he’ll never be the same again. No injections of anything will cure his knees, it’s sad but that’s a fact. Historically when basketball players start getting knee problems soon in their career, it never really goes away, especially with big men like Bynum.

It also allowed us to see J.Holiday and E.Turner a little bit better. With Iggy they had to always defer to him.

The problem wasn’t giving up Iggy but N.Voucivik (spelled wrong but the guy has a double double average in ORL and we have Hawes the jump shotting 7 foot pillow) and the draft picks.

Exactly, if the Sixers stuck with Iggy, they would continue the endless cycle of mediocrity in which they lose in the first round of the playoffs, and end up with a pick between 18-26, which they would use for a role/bench player who would just add to the mediocrity.

This trade allowed the Sixers to do one of 2:
a) become a contender in the East
b) become a lottery team

Both options are better than being stuck in the middle of the pack.

While it is true the sixers hinged their cart on Bynum, it is also true that it was a necessary step forward that they and the fans would repeat every time. You need a star in the NBA to transcend into a title contender and the sixers were never going to be that with Iguodala. I remain happier as a fan that the team took the risk as opposites to staying idle with their dead-end roster.

Well as bad as the Lakers are, I can’t imagine them being any better if they’d kept Bynum seeing as he hasn’t played yet. Although maybe we would have some more draft picks if we hadn’t traded for Howard. We are definitely going to need those.
