I second tomasekradek. Why would anyone want to take on both of those contracts? I have no idea what Colangelo’s plan is with this roster. Two extremely expensive SF’s who are the same type of player(Gay is just better) and they are locked into both of these guys for years. Just doesn’t make sense.

I reckon you’re just dealin’ loose wit’ th’ ol’ journalistic semantics, Kurt, but I cannot resist pointing out:
The Raptors don’t actually get Gay’s stats. He’s gotta keep earning them. As we all know, changing teams has a way of dramatically altering a player’s productivity, for good and ill. Just ask the Mavs, who’ve been on the ill side of that equation the last couple of years, both coming and going.

That deal doesn’t make sense for Toronto if they don’t get Bargnani out of there. They may use a Bargnani-Derozan combo now to make the offer more acceptable. I just don’t see where they’re going with this, Lowry has an horrible attitude, I think they were unable to trade him away because of that. If it stays has it is right now, Toronto is a
complete mess. Getting out of that hole might take them forever.

I’m with Kurt on this one, I see no benefit for Raptors, Jose one of the better PG in the East and Ed Davis getting his groove on, his play in the last 16 games since Andrea had his hickie has been great on both ends .

Colangelo is an idiot. Finally I could actually watch a Raptors game and see promise and this guy trades away the pg and PF that have chemistry, keeps a PG that apparently no one likes on the team, and gets a SF that they don’t need. Now what are they gonna do with Bargnani? He just doesn’t want to admit drafting Bargnani was a mistake. Time to fire this clown.

BC has cemented himself as theeeee worst GM in the NBA. DeRozan & Gay both play SF & neither is a good enough shooter to play SG. Gay is a little under sized for PF. Calderon & Davis were the Raptors 2 best players. Lowry is going to be bought out at the end of the year & DeRozan still has 2-3 years left?? Oh yeah – the Raptors traded a 1st round pick for Lowry who they will buy out & the pick is only top 3 protected … The Raptors are a joke & the laughing stock of the NBA

Look, im not happy about losing Eddie D but attracting talent to Toronto is tough. Gay is a borderline franchise guy and although I question the fit with Derozan, Ross both signed long term and needing minutes, its tough for the Raps to get franchise guys. I worry about the 37mil left on his contract but Colangelo says Gay wants to be in Toronto (better chance of him resigning). I can live with JV/Barny/Gay/Derozan/Lowry/Ross core.

This stinks. My fantasy team (The Boston Stranglers) (shout out to AT) has J.Calderon and he has been carrying the assist since C.Paul hurt his knee. This could kill Calderon for me, and now when I’m fighting to win the division. C.Paul get better soon!!!!!

Gay took the clutch shot but only made it once over lebron I believe

Been calling Tay to Memphis for a month on here. Bingo! I’d have liked a Memhpis draft pick back too if I were Joe D, but they also clear Daye who they were going to non tender after the year. Maggette’s 10.6m expires this yr too. Lotsa cap to go get a a scorer and draft GR3 or Burke at 9ish…woot!

I would be loving this if I were a Grizzly fan. You get a back up PF to fill the hole from the Speights trade and a nice, rangy Defender who has a ring and can score “enough” in Prince.

I saw your comment and did a double take so hard I think I got whiplash. In order for them to have been a contender with this trade it would have had to been more than three teams that brought in Lebron, Dwight, CP3, and Kevin Durant to go along with Gay. I’m not saying the raptors are a horrible team like the bobcats but they cannot even smell the top teams right now. Mediocre at best bro.
