I do not turn the all star game on. At all. I guess I factually lied because if their is a highlight of the all star game on Sportscenter I don’t change the channel.

I’ll take your $1,000 bet though. This year I will change the channel if I see an All Star game highlight come on Sportscenter.

There should be a rule where players that are voted in as starters, can only start if their respective teams are over .500. Then the players that get the the next-most amount of votes under their “category” should start. But, that player will still be eligible to be voted in as a reserve like everyone else.

So for instance, Dwight Howard wouldn’t get in as an all-star starter, because his Lakers are under .500, so the player with the next-highest votes on the “front-court category”, hopefully someone like DeAndre Jordan or Marc Gasol, would get in as a starter.

It doesn’t make sense that players like D Howard and Kobe should be starters this year (their team has under-achieved this year). Kobe would still be voted in as a All-Star by the coaches (more likely), but it would give another player a chance to take Dwight’s position that deserves the spot more. (and no, im not a laker-hater).

Coaches AND Players choose starters (can”t pick players from your own team). Can make it a requirement to vote with some sort of minimum minutes played or whatever.

Then let fans vote the bench in for whoever else they want to see during the weekend.
