I doubt that the presence of Ray Allen would make any difference to the current state of the Celtics. Ainge has to change things now and start looking at viable trade options….the Celtics need another big! And Cousins could be that man…..I think he would reach his potential under the tutelage of Doc and Garnett. What bargaining chips do the Celtics have….Rondo! He ain’t the leader and never will be…..I have heard that a possible 3 way trade could be in the pipeline involving the Celtics-Toronto-Kings. This involves either Bradley or Rondo and Melo and Sullinger going to the Kings and Kyle Lowry, Demarcus Cousins, Jimmer Fredette and Chuck Hayes coming to Boston…..So come on Ainge let’s make this happen before its too late.

No they can’t. Have you watched this team at all? They have zero rebounding outside of Sullinger (who was a great draft pick) and he’s a rookie who isn’t completely efficient. Terry is garbage. GARBAGE. He is a liability who is a run killer anytime the Celtics are making a push to widen a lead or catch up.

I find the fact that Boston fans think Avery Bradley, who just got torched along with Rondo by Kyrie “Second Coming of Chris Paul” Irving and is little more than a decent defender as a small SG who barely scores and hardly rebounds is going to save them, hilarious.

Ray is still a liability on the defensive end. Bradley is still banged up, once/if he gets 100% or close to it the Celtics will bounce back. Terry will be better with less minutes and there is still half the season for them to gel. Boston can still get the 5/6 seed and beat 2-4 in the first round.

Ray Allen’s been a good acquisition for the Heat in 2012 -

Ray Allen
25 MPG, 46.8% FG, 43.2% 3PT, 89.5% FT, 3.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, 11.2 PPG

He’s not asked to shoot much since his job is mainly to space the floor and be efficient when given open-looks, and his overall FG% and especially his 3-PT % show how efficient he has been when given opportunities to shoot.

Jason Terry
28 MPG, 42.7% FG, 35.8% 3PT, 86.4% FT, 1.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 10 PPG

In more minutes than Allen, Terry has scored slightly fewer points per game, but he has been much less efficient overall and at the 3-point line. Terry’s been a decent substitute for Ray Allen, but there’s a definite drop-off in efficiency.

This really speaks to why this was such a great move for the Heat. In one fell swoop they added a veteran, clutch, go-to scorer who defense simply must stay on, while simultaneously twisting a knife in the heart of Miami’s biggest conference rival.

Agreed. I always thought all the talk about Terry and Lee and Bradley being able to replace what Ray did ridiculous. YOU HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR RAY AT ALL TIMES, in transition, in half court and during out of bounds. ANYONE who has played college or pro know how taxing that is on not only the defender guarding him but the defense as a whole. Doc is too proud to admit it but YES their offense misses a guy like that…and YES in the playoffs when rotations shrink and the game slows down Miami will benefit greatly by having a guy that a defender can’t leave.
