People love a good train wreck. And there may be no more apt description of the Lakers right now.

Kay Adams and I talk what is wrong with the Lakers — well, we could have gone on for a full hour but we kept it short. Topics include Mike D’Antoni, Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant and how much of this debacle should be blamed on management.

Then to flip the coin, we talk biggest positive surprise team in the league. The answer is… well, watch the video.

How do you get your head to be so shiny?

Reblogged this on Blog do Renato.

The Lakers should admit trading for Dwight Howard was a mistake and trade him now. This situation between Kobe and Dwight will only get worse before it gets better. Kinda like the Lakers season.
I would trade Dwight to Brooklyn for Brook Lopez and send Pau to Minnesota for Kevin Love plus both teams needs to add in multiple 1st round draft picks. Also, I would also send Steve Nash to Toronto for Kyle Lowery and a few 1st round draft picks.
The Lakers need to be realistic and proactive. At 17-24 being in 12th place in the West pretty much means this season is over. Being a .500 team in the West will not get you into the playoffs like the East. The Lakers need 50 total wins and alot of luck to make the playoffs.
The fanbase will not celebrate an 8th seed in the playoffs when they have expected a championship all season.
This would fix the Lakers and make them better sooner instead of waiting until the offseason wondering what happened.
Unfortunately, Jim Buss nor Mitch Kupchak have my basketball IQ. They are more like the blind leading the blind.

You are kidding me right? You don’t honestly think either of those trades is possible do you?

    • andyhr17 - Jan 23, 2013 at 10:58 AM

Just because you got all crazy with the ESPN Trade Machine does not mean that it would work in reality. Why not send Metta World Peace to the Cavs for Kyrie while you’re at it?

  4. ph53knowsall - Jan 22, 2013 at 8:45 PM

dalucks: I hope that was just you being sarcastic. No way the Twolves give up a 24 year old love AND multiple picks for a 32year old Gasol. Likewise with Toronto giving up Lowry ANDpicks for a decrepit Nash.

It’s the unrealistic fanbase that makes this train wreck so great.
Buss the younger may be an idiot. but he at least knows he’s not playing NBA2k fantasy league where the trades only make sense for YOUR team.

    Good God are you delusional!

  5. cj1403 - Jan 22, 2013 at 9:01 PM

    Laker fans are just delusional.

  6. dalucks - Jan 22, 2013 at 9:24 PM

There are already rumors of a 3 team trade sending Howard to Brooklyn, Lopez to Minnesota and Love to LA. I know Pau cannot play center so Pau and Kevin Love will not work. My trade works out better for LA especially since Howard makes more money than Lopez and Marshon Brooks just like Pau makes more money than Love so those teams will have to give up additional compensation, preferably picks and not bad contracts of bad players. Nash to the Raptors for Lowery and multiple picks is very realistic. It is more realistic than you think. It might become a reality at the trade deadline.

    • lucifershuttlesworth - Jan 22, 2013 at 11:46 PM

do you know what realistic means?

    • cbt22 - Jan 23, 2013 at 9:17 AM

Where did you see that rumor? Minnesota wouldn’t give up Love for Lopez because they already have Pek who is better than Lopez. Also you do realize Lowry is only 26 and Nash is 38? Unless you live in Laker Land any body realizes giving up a 26 year and multiple picks for a past his prime 38 year old is one of the worst moves ever. And if Toronto did end up doing that then they would deserve to be contracted or moved to Seattle.

  7. cj1403 - Jan 22, 2013 at 9:47 PM

Think! Why would the Wolves want Pau? He’s 32, soft and definitely not better than a 24yr old Love. Again why would the Rockets trade one of the most underrated PG in the league for an ancient Nash? Why don’t you just trade Lebron for World Peace and Blake for CP3 also?

  8. brotherlove2012 - Jan 22, 2013 at 9:47 PM

OMG, you were serious … It’s funny how you think all the other teams are just D-League material for your beloved Lakers. I didn’t really care for the Lakers, but since coming to PBT, I’ve started acquiring a real hatred for them as their fanbase are so delusional, exactly like the Montreal Canadians fanbase in the NHL.

  9. ph53knowsall - Jan 22, 2013 at 9:57 PM

Any GM that makes either of those trades should lose their jobs. The Raptors trading Lowrey and picks for a soon to be 40 year old?!
    Love and picks for Gasol?!

You’re either delusional or smoking something. You’re getting nothing but bench filler for Gasol. Brooklyn had already shot down the rumor anyway.

You need to realize that the,Lakers are going to be mediocre for awhile.

Thanks for the chuckle anyway. Your delusions are funny.
You may get lowrey, or trade Gasol, but you’re getting some filler, not picks in return.
Stick to your video games, you’ll be better off.

    • loungefly74 - Jan 23, 2013 at 11:17 AM

      is this my buddy?

well…agree for the most part…BUT…”the Lakers being mediocre for awhile” statement is questionable. come on, man, you know the Lakers do whatever to stay relevant. just like the Yankees, etc… yeah, they may need to regroup and that might take a season or 2…but there is no abyss.

  10. rickeye9 - Jan 22, 2013 at 10:02 PM

ps how has Bynum done this year? Howard isn’t the problem.

    • patrick800series - Jan 25, 2013 at 11:48 AM

Bynum hasnt played, if he did play, im sure he would have a bigger impact on his team than Dwight has had

  11. xli2006 - Jan 22, 2013 at 10:45 PM

What is PBT’s obsession with the mediocre Lakers?!?

You’ve written maybe 3 articles about the Pacers all year who are playing elite ball.

Teams need to EARN coverage and the fans dont deserve to have mediocre teams news crammed down our throats.

  12. 32magicman - Jan 22, 2013 at 11:23 PM

The only good think to come out of this season for the lakers is the kings being moved to seattle. Maybe they will get some more ticket sales as all those sacramento ball fans will need to watch games somewhere!!!

  13. rodge1 - Jan 22, 2013 at 11:59 PM

Those trade proposals are hilarious!!!… I’ve said it many times and will say it again: Kobe + max contract + declining skills = no cap room for bench players. And before you Laker fans start whining, I know Kobe can still score but he cannot defend anymore.

  14. nokoolaidcowboy - Jan 23, 2013 at 6:36 AM

Imagine things can’t be too cool at the Nicholson household…

  15. drex1 - Jan 23, 2013 at 1:51 PM
