I personally can't stand Kobe or LBJ and have no dog in this fight, but Lebron will go down as the better player (not just scorer) in the end. Lebron just has more to his game, is more efficient and makes his teammates better. I fully believe LBJ that he could lead the league in scoring if he wanted to, but he believes that making his teammates better actually improves his chances of success more. And I don't want to hear the rings argument, IMO that has no bearing on how great a player is.

Kurt's first paragraph about Lebron's unique physical gifts is spot on. Lebron is simply the best athlete that has ever been in the NBA in my opinion, and that makes the game so easy for him. He's never going to have the talent that kobe has or the killer instinct, but his physical tools allow him to do pretty much whatever he wants on offense, and be the best defensive player in the league. He's not kobe, guys should compare him to someone like shaq. A great player and great passer, and the game was easier for him because of his body.

alright

first off, i said congrats. also, nothing i said about kobe is to take any credit away from lebron.

my post was to bring light to why lebron reached it quicker than kobe. that was all.

not once did i bash lebron. nothing i said was false either.

if that makes me a "kobe homer" i don't know what to say. yes, lebron lived up to the hype. but he was given that hype because he was expected to perform from day one. kobe was not that dude. true or false?

true.

kobe DID have to make his name in the league. it is rare nowadays that we don't see a superstar coming. if anyone knew kobe would be a franchise player i think he'd at least be in the top 10 of his draft.

how in the world did i make it seem like it was lebron's fault that he was given the platform from day one? i was just making a case a to why lebron reached 20k faster than bryant. period. nothing more nothing less. no hate no where.

did i say he didnt work hard? no. my whole idea was that, lebron was given a headstart to be the man. that is all. kobe had to wait his time. he had to prove himself to vets on his team. lebron was the truth as a rookie. the vets had to take a backseat to him.

lebron is very very good (duh), but i say that to show i have nothing against him. and if my post came out the wrong way, sorry for the confusion, i give him all the props he deserves.

i just ask yall to see my post for purely what is was, a case as to why lebron got to 20k faster, nothin mor, nothin less, no hate, no homer'ing.

first off...congrats to Lebron. the guy exceeded his monumental hype created by whoever and whatever (including himself).

@money2long, those are great points. kobe did have some hype...but not nearly at lebron's level. and you nailed it about kobe's "jerry rice-esque" work ethic. i'd say it paid off.

"a burden lebron has never experienced". "kobe wasn’t expected to become the mamba, however lebron was called king in high school, given the keys to the franchise from day one, and had all the tools to dominate. kobe had to make himself a star.

Doesn't it make more pressure if you're expected to be good? Kobe never experienced the burden that lebron had. He was given the burden to carry a so so team. Do you think he doesn't worked hard for it?

If almost all of the people are expecting you to be great, you will feel more pressure.

Well the media made this hype for lebron. In kobe's time we don't have facebook, twitter or blogs like this. Look at KG, he was also drafted straight from highschool. KG was a beast and dominated on his high school days. He was never hyped like LBJ because social media is not like the way it is today.

It's not his fault, but it doesn't mean that he didn't worked hard to be the player he is now. You're just a kobe homer that wouldn't like kobe to be ignored. You kobe fans just want to hear praises about kobe. We'll he's not the only good player on this world. I'm an LBJ fan but I'm still amazed with kobe's talent.

Just give credit where the credit is due.

exactly. lebron had the advantage on being on teams that needed his scoring. congrats to lebron, but lemme touch on this kobe aspect. yes, he did it at a younger age than bryant, but when you look at lbj and kb, who was the guy coming in to the league as a phenom/future hall of famer/ franchise player ? who was drafted outside of the top 10 ? who wasn't asked to start at day one, to carry his team, to dominate the ball?

kobe is a self made superstar. he wasn't expected to be this great. kobe has put in so much hard work , he made himself a franchise player. kobe even when he gave himself a name, wasn't even the man on his team. he was second on the food chain, a burden lebron has never experienced. even in miami, he is still option number one. toning down attempts regardless, lebron is still option number one. when kobe was entering his prime is when the lakers finally gave kobe his stage, and i believe he averaged 35 a night.
