Carmelo is enough of a Diva, now what is he supposed to do with this? These distractions don’t help him do what he needs to do which is just play ball.

I think you’re missing the point with all the “papa bear” musings. Carmelo is having an MVP year and the Knicks are in full resurgence mode. I thought it was a silly move on Dolan’s party but I thought his motivation was much more business oriented. To both prove to the public and to Stern that his star was the victim in the whole kerfuffle, thus protecting Melo’s marketability and status.
