But I’m sure if the Lakers wanted to get him, they’d have to trade one of those all-star caliber players to which you refer.

Didn’t focus on the team? what does that mean? They traded for the best unselfish player of the last 10 years and the best help defender in the game. Don’t get greedy? All teams should be greedy. The point is to build a winner.

Rudy Gay is on a cusp of superstardom!! Why would Grizzlies shop him is beyond any logic because they are one of the top teams in the West. Rubio and Love are made of glass , even if you touch them they crumble in to a pile of sand. This guy is an instant offence. Zack and Gashol are too slow and have difficult time creating offence on their own. I think the ownwership has been drinking too much of that moonshine laced with antifreeze!!! I am a BULLS fan and we can take care of anyone in the west after we dispose of Miami and the three wuses!!!! DAAAAA BUUUUUUUULLLLSSSSS !!!!

This trade refusal may not have been about the money. My point was that I don’t know how they would fit the money in long term, even if they could make the players/draft picks work on a trade.

There’s already 4 all star players on your team, and your looking to add another all star caliber player. Just stop. Lakers got greedy and didnt focus on a team they focused on individual players and now look at them.

TWolves front office: “Wow, what a great trade Memphis. Can we trade you one of our more valuable players (Love or Rubio) for a lesser player with a way bigger contract? Heck, why don’t we just throw in both Rubio and Love, that sound fair to you?” And anyone that thinks a team trying to dump salary is going to get a player of Kevin Love’s caliber must not know a thing about the NBA. Maybe they asked for Shved and Dwill and/or Pekovic. I’d say no that that in a heartbeat too. I know the grizz wanted Shved when he was a free agent so I assume he was part of the deal. Shved is gonna be real good next to Rubio, screw blowing up that backcourt and I’d rather have Pek than Rudy anyways.

I think the Grizzlies will realize that the market is not gonna be great for a 3 that makes more money than Lebron with nowhere near the skill level. Rudy is a great player, but nowhere near worth what he is being paid. I could see the Wolves giving up AK47, D-Will, and either a conditional 1st rounder or a player like Ridnour or Barea to give them waayyyyy better PG play off the bench. But Memphis will definitely not get a player the caliber of a Rubio or Love in return for Gay. keep dreaming.

Limited revenue streams in small market. San Antonio made it work, but other small markets really struggle to balance their books.

completely agree. I’ve been wanting to see the lakers with either Rudy Gay, AI, or Danny Granger for the last 2 years once Kobe’s athleticism has declined. He needs an athletic wing to roll with at this point in his career.

Don’t know how the contracts would line up, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him go to the Lakers, athletic SF who can defend on the wing and can make his shots.

This is not about money. Although this report, along with all others, do not state the players involved…it was obviously rejected by the Wolves because the Grizz were asking for one of the Wolves untouchable players, ie. Love or Rubio.

I don’t see how the Wolves could take on his contract, unless they gave up Love, which would be stupid unless there is some sort of issue with Love and the front office (doubt it). Love already wasn’t thrilled he didn’t get a max deal. If you bring in someone making more, it is more likely Love wants to leave. Plus, they will have to find money for Rubio, Shved, Pekovic, and maybe others in the next few years. They haven’t had everybody healthy yet to even see if the mix they have will work, so I hope they don’t tear it down and try to rebuild something and move any of those guys.
