Actually DeAndre's stat this year, adjusted for playing time, is nearly identical to Gortat's. And DeAndre is a much bigger presence defensively. Athletic big men always get overpaid. Yet the Clippers' original offer was a more reasonable $8 million per, thanks to the Warriors for ~~messing~~ bidding up.

They have the 4th worst record in the league. He’s a realist. All he is saying is he’s not going to ask to abandon the team when its struggling. Hopefully it wont last long with a top five pick after the year and potentially another lottery pick from those turrible Lakers the Suns got in that not so terrible looking Nash trade…

Everyone knows Perkins is wildly overpaid…that guy is just flat out overrated, and has been so his entire career. His only worth is to single cover big men who like to score with their backs to the basket.
Otherwise, he’s pretty much useless.

But Jordan makes a bit more sense…he has much more upside than Gortat and is more of an athlete (and better rebounder). Gortat may have a slightly more developed offensive game, but that’s about it.

The coach himself has called out the team in public many times, so I doubt he’s expecting players to sugar-coat the situation.

Well, he’s only telling the truth. He didn’t even use it in a negative context if you actually read the article in it’s entirety and not just that tiny quote. He spoke about not wanting to make it seem like he’s giving up on the team by being traded, personal responsibility. Those are words a coach would die to hear, especially in tough times the Suns are in right now. I don’t know how the hell Gentry or anyone else can have a problem with that without thoroughly reading what he said.

It’s funny how centers like DeAndre or Perkins have salaries in range of 10mln per year and Gortat makes like 6/year.
