Gay to the suns is a horrible fit. Gay to the wolves fits better, but I don’t think the wolves really have much to get the deal done, that and the fact K-Love won’t be hanging around may rule them out. I’d personally love to see Rudy in a Celtics jersey

It’s a great deal for both sides. Phoenix would finally have a true star player and Memphis gets a ton of cap space, while still getting a quality player in Dudley. But I would think they’d have to get a bit more in return like adding Beasley to it. Phoenix hasn’t been using him at all lately since he started slumping a month ago. He’s inconsistent mentally, but when he’s on Beasley looks like one of the most promising players in the league. Dudley, Beasley, and a 1st rounder would be a huge steal for Memphis. You would be replacing Gay’s production with two above average starting type players at SF & SG and still remain an elite squad. Put those two with Gasol, Randolph, and Conley and they wouldn’t miss a beat from where they’re currently at in the standings. It probably would make them better and also giving them a deeper bench.

would fit in houston to relieve stress off Harden. But we cant get him, our highest paid players make like 5 mil. this year and would take 3-5 players to get him. Also, Parsons is developing fast and makes only 800k! awesome deal!

If I owned the Grizzles and I was 4 million dollars over the tax line then I would not trade Rudy Gay. I would find one of those guys sitting on the bench making 5 million dollars to trade for a 2nd round pick.
I think the new ownership is overthinking this Rudy Gay trade.

Gay is a great asset, can’t build around him but with him on the team, you automatically jump to the next tier.

Not sure I understand the direction for the Suns in this deal. Trading 1st round picks when you are a lottery team seems counter-productive. Dudley isn’t great but he only costs $6.5 mil/yr and Gay, while clearly the better player, is NOT worth the $16.5 mil/yr he garners. If the Grizzlies rid the Suns of the awful Beasley contract along with Dudley I could see a potential fit with this deal. The Suns would retain salary flexibility going forward while improving their roster.

Stuckey and Prince for Gay and Bayless fits the $, gives Memphis more outside shooting and scoring punch from the 2 spot….toss in a 2nd rounder from Detroit and call it done. Better than Dudley and a mid first…

This is a awful move for the grizzlies, they really have a solid team. Would be nice to see what they can do in the playoffs when healthy. Zbo was hurt last year and Gay the year after. If they move Gay they better get way more than a Jared Dudley.

As much as it pains me to have Dudz part of the deal. I hope this happens, we need the scoring of a guy who can do anything on the court. Goran, Brown, Gay, Scola, Gortat gettin us started. Telfair, W.Johnson, Tucker, Morris, O’neal backing up.

Why in the freakin’ world would MEM try and trade Rudy, one of their main pieces -if not their MAIN piece- away for the table scraps PHX has!?? They are a darkhorse title contender doing better then this franchise has ever done IMO and they are gonna try and pull this crap just to shed salary!??

That my friends, just says “we as an NBA franchise are not willing to pay for a contender and put out as good of a product as we possibly can.” I feel sooooo bad for MEM fans. They will NEVER win anything with that kind of ownership.

MEM is doing so good ’cause 1) The core has been together for a long time ( that’s a key, you can’t just keep drastically switching the roster up year in and year out and expect to be a top tier team)
2) look at the core. You got a big, bruising C who defends and rebounds, passes and scores down low in M. Gasol, a rebounding/scoring fool in Z-Bo, who can shoot further then 5 ft. from the paint, Rudy who is the athletic wing that can drive, shoot and be your go-to guy, Tony Allen who is your top-tier wing defender, and doesn’t need to score to be effective, especially since the scoring is fully covered by your 3,4, and 5. And then you got Mike Conley.

Well, Conley can be pretty good sometimes. I guess. He can play D and sets his team up, so he does his job. I mean, that sounds like the perfect put together team that has everything covered. That’s how I construct my NBA2K Association mode teams! This lineup is as nice as it gets with everyones skill sets. It would be STUPID to mess with it with the season they are having, just to save $$$.

Enjoy mediocrity forever Memphis. I feel so sorry for you guys.

Dont know why the Cavs aren’t involved, they have the cap space to absorb the contract and desperately need another scorer, moving an unhappy Casspi, picks and maybe Walton or Gee is the way to go.

As for the Suns, I’d try to keep Dudley since he is one of the few that play defense there and is scoring. We’re talking about Sarver though a notorious cheapskate who traded draft picks like Rondo and Deng to avoid the tax. Phoenix needs Rudy badly since Beasely is a bust as we knew this summer and Shannon Brown is wildly inconsistent.
