Mayor Bloomberg admits he pushed Stephen Jackson before injury

And all this time we had been blaming some poor waitress just trying to do her job.

San Antonio’s Stephen Jackson returned to the court Monday night after missing a game with a sprained ankle. An injury he got last Thursday reportedly when colliding with a waitress kneeling courtside at the Knicks game to give New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg his drink.

Bloomberg told the New York Post that it wasn’t the waitress, that he actually pushed Jackson on the play.

“He didn’t fall on her,” Bloomberg revealed yesterday during a press conference in The Bronx dealing with schools. “He came close and I just pushed him a little bit.”

You know Spike Lee is taking notes and is going to try the same thing now when the Heat come to town. The Knicks did win the game, after all.

In reality Gregg Popovich is right — there needs to be some regulations across arenas to keep those areas right next to the court clear while play is in action. Between courtside seats and photographers/cameramen under both baskets, there is just not a ton of room around the court.
