…Because how many games a team wins and loses from October to January determines whether that team will be competing for a top-4 seed, a 5th-to-8th seed, or a lottery pick in February-April.

In the West in particular, there are so many good teams that every win/loss counts.
I foresee OKC, LAC, and SA continuing to battle for the #1 seed with a huge lead over everybody else, so that’s the top-3 teams.
Meanwhile, I see the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies comfortably locking in the 4th and 5th seeds. Aside from Minnesota, teams like Houston, Portland, Denver, Utah, the Lakers, and Dallas are all poised to perhaps finish the second half of the season stronger than they started because they spent the first half of the year incorporating key new players onto their team (Lin/Harden, Iguodala, Lillard, Nash/Howard, the entire Dallas roster except Marion and Nowitzki) and/or getting key guys back from injury (Nash, Nowtizki).

Every game counts in the West, even the ones in January. The Minnesota Timberwolves (my preseason pick for the 6th seed) needs to start going on a run now, not hovering around 0.500, or else they could get left behind.

Something tells me his hand wasn’t entirely healed and he was pushing it by coming back early this season. This isn’t good, though, and this injury may effect his entire career.

He would be a great supporting player, lakerluver. He would do well there but I would hate to see it. Would like to see the Wolves get a big name player instead of saving the max contract for an even bigger porcelain doll, Rubio.
