So, how does Jeanie Buss feel about Brooklyn?

Phil Jackson has more rings than fingers, so he finally has given one to Jeanie Buss. Sort of.

Jackson finally popped the question to his long-time girlfriend and daughter of Lakers owner Jerry Buss during the holidays, and she put a picture of the ring on twitter Thursday night. Then she spoke to about it.

“I’m beyond happy,” Buss told “I really didn’t want it to be news, but I knew people who followed me on Twitter cared about it and I’ve been wearing the ring since Christmas, so I figured I should let people know.”

Buss and Jackson live together in a beach town in Southern California. They have been dating since 1999 and their relationship has survived through a lot of ups and downs with the Lakers and themselves, including when Jackson left the Lakers in 2004 and traveled for much of a year. (She has not commented on the hiring of Mike D’Antonio over Jackson.) Through it all they have stayed together and Buss has said they’ve grown closer. Now they are going to make that strong bond formal.

Congratulations to them both, I hope they are happy. I’ll get them a nice toaster as a wedding gift.

But now he’s going to have to ask her what she thinks about that whole Brooklyn Nets thing.

i think that’s a shot at the dad for not hiring his ass, hes been with her for like 30 yrs and now they get married?

Would love to be a fly on the wall for that ceremony…

    PJ: Hi Jimmy

    Congrats Phil !

Maybe this is all some devious plan on his part and Big Daddy Buss gives the happy couple full control of the Lakers as a wedding present.

  5. cantonbound13 - Jan 4, 2013 at 5:13 AM

Funny, Phil will own the Lakers instead of coaching them someday.

  6. yankeepunk3000 - Jan 4, 2013 at 5:42 AM

how old are both of them???

    • albertmn - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:34 AM

You are on the internet if you posted the question. Why not take 45 seconds and check?

      • florida727 - Jan 4, 2013 at 10:07 AM

Phil is 67. Been married twice before, one of them was for 26 years, the other for 5.

Jeanie was born in 1961, so that makes her 51 or 52.

        Google works :)

PBT/TMZ. Way to report the goods.

Thanksgiving just got a little more interesting at the Buss household!

  9. fanofevilempire - Jan 4, 2013 at 6:58 AM

she has to get 12 more to catch up to the Zen Master…………….

  10. supremekingz - Jan 4, 2013 at 7:54 AM

Nobody thinks it odd that the guy “dated” her for 13 years before popping the question? Who does that?

    • jimmygrahamchrisivory - Jan 4, 2013 at 2:23 PM

People that likes to take things slow and not rush into a devastating marriage?

    • cantonbound13 - Jan 4, 2013 at 4:58 PM

      A smart man.

what’s odd about it? Marriage is just a piece of paper. You don’t HAVE to get married to someone. What’s odd is that it bothers you that he “dated” her for 13 years.

Congratulations to Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss on their engagement! So funny that the little idiot buss boy will now have Phil as his brother-in-law. All Jeanie has to tell Phil about Brooklyn is “Nyet” to the Nyets. I mean after living in a Southern Cali beach town moving to Brooklyn would be like moving to a garbage dump with bad weather.

Hopefully Daddy Buss will wake up and fire his little idiot buss boy and put Phil and Jeanie in charge of the Lakers, keeping both close in Southern Cali. Phil Jackson would have had the Lakers on a winning record by now and he’d have a great defense and offensive scheme for the team, things Dumbtoni has utterly failed at. Also Phil knows how to use personnel better than Dumbtoni.

We Want Phil!!! We Want Jeanie!!! Fire Dumbtoni!!! Fire the little idiot buss boy!!!

Way to sh*t on NYC….I guess you forgot that Phil Jackson won 6 rings in Chicago, a city similar to NYC?

    • joshm5683 - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:15 AM

Its actually been reported numerous times and gone on record saying that Dr Jerry Buss is the one who wanted D’Antoni because of his love of up tempo “showtime” style of play.

Unfortunately I’m not sure even Phil could fix my Lakers……….they’re ranked like 6th in offensive efficiency and in the bottom half on defense. Phil has never been a defensive coach, so I don’t know how much he would have improved the Lakers, especially since a guy like Nash doesn’t really fit that system.

    • fanofevilempire - Jan 4, 2013 at 10:28 AM

      you are a douche.

      from ALL of Brooklyn.

    • marcusfitzhugh - Jan 4, 2013 at 4:11 PM

New York City a garbage dump? Please. You have obviously never been anywhere. Try traveling a little first.

  15. glink123 - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:07 AM

She’s 51. He’s 67. I’m guessing the reason he waited so long to pop the question has more to do with him already being married twice before, both back in the ’70s, and both lasting less than 5 years.

    • jason9696 - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:50 AM

She looks a lot younger than 51 to me in that picture.

      • zerole00 - Jan 4, 2013 at 10:42 AM

Yeah I woulda guessed she was in her mid 30’s, I don’t know if it’s due to surgery or what but she looks very good for 51.

      • fanofevilempire - Jan 4, 2013 at 11:12 AM

maybe she had vaginal rejuvenation done.
        freshen up the meat curtains…………

    • florida727 - Jan 4, 2013 at 10:12 AM

Wrong. His second marriage lasted 26 years, from 1974 to 2000.

  16. 1972wasalongtimeago - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:21 AM

How long until his 11 rings become 5.5?

    • cpaulii - Jan 4, 2013 at 11:40 AM

Wrong !! he has 13 rings:
      2 in NY
      6 in CHI
      5 in LA

      • 1972wasalongtimeago - Jan 4, 2013 at 12:55 PM

Jeannie should hire you to be her divorce lawyer. Don’t let him hide his assets from you Baby Girl!

  17. shaner329 - Jan 4, 2013 at 9:22 AM

I’m sorry Ms Jackson hooooo I am for real

  18. decimusprime - Jan 4, 2013 at 11:08 AM

The power of Zen. It not only helps you win rings, it also apparently helps you find a finger to put a ring on! Jeanie Jackson is so sexy. Way to go PJ!

  19. paulhargis53 - Jan 4, 2013 at 12:00 PM

  21. rick92886 - Jan 4, 2013 at 4:44 PM

Congratulations to Phil and Jeanie, I also was dating for 13 years and then married her but mine turned out pretty bad after 12 more years divorce. I hope yours last forever like it suppose to.
