Raptors’ Johnson gets away with blatant double-dribble (VIDEO)

Jan 3, 2013, 10:43 AM EST

Even Amir Johnson thought this was funny. Notice how he is laughing as he runs back down the court. Of course, the Trail Blazers didn’t find it as amusing.

Watch the video again — Toronto’s Johnson gets the ball out 21 feet from the rim and dribbles to the elbow extended and picks up his dribble. J.J. Hickson does the right thing defensively and backs off Johnson, who can’t hit that midrange jumper. Nobody comes open for Johnson on the cuts, so pump fakes then puts the ball back down on the floor and drives at Hickson and puts a little six-foot jump floater in over him. Then runs down the court laughing. All three refs missed one you wouldn’t get away with in junior high.

Not sure how the refs missed it. Maybe they were stunned by Johnson’s hair.

Hat tip to The Point Forward at SI for the video.

This the only time all year that the Raps have benifited from a no call or bad call. If they keep winning the refs will be forced to ref a Raps game you know, fairly. Where is everyone that said this team was all time bad and wouldn’t win more then 10 games? Jv, eddie d, derozan, ross and lowry is a nice core to build around. Time to figure out where Barny fits in this. Trading him now would definitely be selling low.

Fun fact, the Raps have 3 less wins then the Lakers.

Fun fact, the Raptors have 16 less championships than the Lakers. Hey! This game is fun! Fun fact, Kobe scored 81 points against the Raptors. Glad you started this thing, as a Laker fan it’s always nice to know that no matter how bad this year is, I’ve still been lucky enough to enjoy the good times.

LOL, on the defensive much? Hilarious over reaction.

Is this whats its come to? Laker fans who thought 65 wins was the teams floor now have to fend of Raptor fans. Utterly hilarious.

The bigger you are, the harder you fall.

I love it when people live in the past. Makes me laugh even when my own team’s fans do it (UK). Those championships absolutely matter this year! Except they don’t…

evryone hates you and you’re stupid

Should probably re-examine things if you’re proud that your team is only slightly worse than the most disappointing team in the league, about whom stories and stories have been written about how bad they are.

That’s freaking hilarious! How do THREE referees miss that?

    • manchestermiracle - Jan 3, 2013 at 11:12 AM

Probably the same way they miss the constant traveling, illegal picks, etc.
