Rajon Rondo fakes Tony Allen out of the building (Video)

Jan 3, 2013, 3:00 PM EDT

This was fun because the guy Rajon Rondo has flying halfway out of the building is Tony Allen, the former Celtic and one of the better perimeter defenders in the league.

It was a bright spot in a night not really filled with bright spots for the Celtics. Most of the last few games have been devoid of bright spots. Avery Bradley returning is a start, but Boston has a lot of rebuilding to do starting on the defensive end over the coming weeks.

And Rondo nearly traveled out of the building there.

No nearly about it, it was a travel, of course that’s already after Allen left the building, but another 2 that shouldn’t have counted.

I know I was using a play on words from the headline.

I’m ok with the referees not calling this kind of travel. It isn’t really an advantage to Rondo, it is just the momentum that he has. A lot of times this happens and I don’t have a problem with it, it is not like they are switchin pivots to gain an advantage on the post.

That’s exactly why he traveled: to gain an advantage in the post. Specifically, to be able to square his shoulders to the basket.

Allen was already in the air, he wasn’t going to get back in position with .2 more seconds that the play would’ve lasted if rondo hadn’t lift his foot.

Allen got faked out all the way back to the team bus
