Timberwolves sign Lazar Hayward to add depth

When teams are looking for guys to provide some depth but not really play much, GMs tend to go with the guys they know over the unknown.

Hence, the Minnesota Timberwolves are bringing back Lazar Hayward, the team announced on twitter. Hayward played 42 games with the Timberwolves two seasons ago, then hung out on the Thunder bench for a lot of last season.

Hayward takes the roster spot of Josh Howard. What the Wizards are hoping for is a guy who can give them a little defense on the perimeter and can soak up a few minutes behind Andrei Kirilenko, reports Jerry Zgoda at the Star Tribune.

Both the Wolves and Thunder used Hayward as a guy to stretch the floor, the problem is he has shot 28 percent from three for his career.

Hayward has been working with the Los Angeles Defenders of the D-League. Zgoda tweets Hayward also has been working with a medium who is helping him speak to spirits. Seriously. Hopefully one of those spirits is Red Auerbach or someone else who can help his game.

Hayward beat out James Anderson and Joey Graham for this shot.
