Chris Paul puts Gordon Hayward on skates (GIF)

Chris Paul AP

The Clippers were down 19 to the Utah Jazz about halfway through the third period, and the 15-game winning streak looked like it was finally coming to a close. Utah was getting easy buckets inside, and the Clippers offense had turned to mush.

But what do you know? Chris Paul suddenly snapped into attack mode, and Utah’s lead melted faster than a snowman in July.

It doesn’t happen very often these days, but when the Clippers are truly in desperation mode, Chris Paul usually saves the day. In a tight game with 23 seconds left, Paul put this nasty move on Gordon Hayward, sending him scrambling every which way. Hat tip to Mike Prada of SB Nation for this beautiful GIF of Paul putting the ball on a string and making Hayward look like Bambi on ice:

Hey DJ you neglected to mention the obvious one sides foul calls late in the game that conveniently went in the clippers favor. Yes the game was called close thru the game but the clippers got at least 4 favorable calls just before the lead change and to make sure they stayed ahead. It was pretty sad. I’m a jazz fan yes so call me biased but it was extremely sad to see a hard fought game decided by the refs calling fouls on one end and not the other. Chris Paul got the opportunity to make shots because of how the last 6 minutes were called.

Come on don’t be “that guy”

Don’t be that guy that doesn’t admit phantom calls exist. Idiots like you still believe Bonds and Clemens didnt knowingly take steriods. refs favor players and to think they dont favor teams on a 15 game winning streak is just ridiculous. I watched every single minute of that game and like is said on the last post it was closed close the whole game until the end and it was beyond obvious that fouls were being called for the clippers and not the jazz in the final minutes. You must not have seen Billups super flop at the end of the last game between the jazz and clippers. Say what you want about my opinion but choosing to ignore the obvious makes you more “that guy” than me.

Or it could be ‘don’t be that guy who calls someone an idiot just because they disagree with you’. The internet, where being unnecessarily rude to strangers is a hobby,

He didn’t call the guy an idiot, my interpretation was just “don’t be that guy that blames the whole game on the refs.”

To win 16 games in a row requires more help than the officials can give — maybe it’s because the Clippers are just a very talented team that seems to find ways to win. Chris Paul is simply an amazing player.
