Brandon Roy has setback with knees, not playing Saturday or soon

Dec 29, 2012, 1:09 PM EST

I just feel bad for Brandon Roy at this point.

His recovery from his latest knee surgery (number seven, but who is counting?) progressed to the point he had planed to practice Friday and if there were no setbacks suit up for the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

There were setbacks, tweets Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports and the NBC Sports Network.

Ugh.

At some point the topic of another retirement because of Roy’s knee issues are going to come up, but it has to be his call. We’re at the point the three-time All-Star with a real competitive fire needs to accept that it is over, and he doesn’t seem ready to go there yet.
