He’s a good coach. However, he’ll need to update his offense sets significantly. One of the reasons he were let go from houston and NY had to do with predictable offensive plays. Kinda like what they had in Avery. Good coach not great. Great and memorable moments while coaching (i.e. Knicks and Heat playoff scuffles, vs Camby punching him while trying to slug Danny Ferry, his former riff with Mark Cuban) but lets not confuse that with greatness.

Wow i guess u either love or hate JVG commentary. I actually like his commentary with tirico. This guy can be a lil over the top at times but i find JVGs honesty refreshing. Unlike most of these ppl who comment on here i actually remember watching this guy coach the knicks. He is one hell of a leader and a coach. Brooklyn would be lucky to get him. Selfishly because i enjoy his insight into the games i hope he stays at the announcers Table with MikeTirico. (And so everyone. Knows i hate ESPN)

WTF are you people talking about!?!?! This is the ONLY commentator that makes games more fun to watch. You get great insight and unabashed honesty from JVG; my favorite commentator hands down. Hubie Brown a close second.

First of all, JVG is a great commentator. I don’t know what you two clowns are talking about. As far as being a great leader, however, I beg to differ.

It seems Van Gundy gets a pass for quitting on the Knicks. In ’01, the got bounced in the first round by an Alvin Williams/Vince Carter led Raptors team (I believe a young T-Mac was there too). In ’02, Camby got hurt about 20 games into the season, and Jeffy walked out the door.

I absolutely love this guy as an announcer because he really is a basketball genius. He’d be a great coach for them, but i’d much rather see him stay an announcer because he’s one of the few that really offers amazing insight to the game, and to be fair, he’s also really hilarious and willing to make a joke of himself which brings the overall entertainment value of the product up.

JVG is a damn good coach, id hate to see DWill get him fired too
