Dwyane Wade suspended one game for kicking Ramon Sessions in the groin

Dec 27, 2012, 8:49 PM EDT

Heat Bobcats Basketball

Dwyane Wade has been suspended one game without pay for his kick to the groin of Ramon Sessions on Wednesday, the league announced via official release.

The league was more generous in describing Wade’s actions, saying the suspension was “for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of” Sessions.

But let’s be honest here — Wade kicked Sessions where it counts, and it was absolutely intentional.

If you have any doubts, just watch the play unfold in slow motion. No way that was a necessary move that was forced by the initial contact, and the league rightfully saw it for what it was.

Miami pulled away late to hand Charlotte its 16th consecutive loss, but this was just a four-point game when this went down with 8:12 remaining in the fourth quarter. The frustration Wade might have felt given the score and situation may have also played into the way he was punished.

Wade will miss the Heat’s next game, which takes place against the Pistons in Detroit on Friday.

Wade us such a punk. He dishes out a few flagrantly dirty plays each year. He doesn’t have the balls to walk up to someone & start something. He just pulls the b!t€h move.

    • fanofthegame79 - Dec 28, 2012 at 8:20 AM

I think Wade is getting chippy – he gets in the face of a lot of other players, doesn’t back down…so he could be tough. Then again, I think there are only 3-4 true tough guys in the NBA. With that said, there was no foul called on Wade during the game. But he’ll be suspended for a game without pay and lose roughly $206,000. Howard hits a dude in the face when losing and gets called for a F2 and is ejected from the game. He gets fined $35,000 – doesn’t seem right to me. I think we need more consistancy and less subjectivity in the rules.

He’s a dirty player perpetrating as this honest guy…smh

    Ooh, should have yelled TWO!

    • cantonbound13 - Dec 28, 2012 at 6:59 AM

Classy. You can tell who the Heat fans are.

  4. liljere24 - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:07 PM

Wade has been punk for the last few years. He constantly pisses and moans about every call and commits these dirty plays and always seemed to get a pass from the Media because ” he is a good guy” . About time he gets in some sort of trouble. Can’t wait for the day till some player smacks that grin off his face.

  5. raidmagic - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:30 PM

Maybe he should have just cracked him in the face and just miss the 4th quarter like Howard did.

  6. tile84 - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:31 PM

Reggie Miller, Karl Malone and many others use that same move. Just so happen to kick Ramon between the legs. Dwight gets no suspension and wade gets a game, guarantee this gets reduced to a fine. I think Stern just wanted to make Wade look bad and he got his wish.

    • hollywood26 - Dec 28, 2012 at 8:16 AM

Man I’m a D Wade fan but if you think that was an accident I suggest you get your eyes checked. That would have been a fight at most gyms, briefs or not

Man I’m a D Wade fan but if you think that was an accident I suggest you get your eyes checked. That would have been a fight at most gyms, refs or not

  7. pglive21 - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:41 PM

Well deserved suspension. It’s about time one of the dirtiest players in the league starts getting reprimanded.

  8. football58 - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:43 PM

Sessions should be suspended for flailing his nuts at Wade’s poor foot.

  9. rayray5227 - Dec 27, 2012 at 9:56 PM

wade has always been a punk and a crybaby. shane Battier needs to be fined as well. dirtiest player in the league

  10. thechock305 - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:06 PM

God you’ll are big time haters.

  11. liljere24 - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:14 PM

Not haters when we are all speaking the obvious true. If someone kicked wade in the nuts you would say the same thing we all did. Heat fans can’t have it both ways.

  12. liljere24 - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:19 PM

    Truth*

  13. sunsation3413 - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:27 PM

And now maybe Garnett will get his for his ” groin plays”. He has been getting away with it or years.

  14. jhuck92 - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:36 PM

A lot of Heat fans I know personally confuse hate with legitimate criticism. It’s really pathetic.

    • Gordon - Dec 27, 2012 at 10:39 PM

You really can’t blame them. They just discovered the NBA 2 years ago.

      • dko83 - Dec 28, 2012 at 12:52 AM

        This is great ^

    • cantonbound13 - Dec 28, 2012 at 6:05 AM

Be careful, you’re going to make Heat fans cry. They’re very sensitive.

Oops, I thought I was reading a PFT post about Nadonkeykong Suh.

  16. thetooloftools - Dec 27, 2012 at 11:24 PM

Wade is a punk 8itch. He’s going to get KTFO one of these days. He’s pure pussy.

    • mickeylolich1968 - Dec 28, 2012 at 12:47 AM

It is tempting to describe Wade as being, in some small way, female.
But let us not do so.
Female basketball players exibit too much diginity, class, and sportsmanship
to be compared to this spoiled brat.

  17. monkeyhateclean - Dec 28, 2012 at 12:06 AM

Wade is a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago. In 2 more years, he’ll be lucky to make a Euroleague roster.

Until then, expect more such lashing out against “inferior players” and whining to refs who don’t give him “star player” calls.

It will be sad revelation for Heat fans, who mistakenly still think Wade is a “star player”. Wade stopped selling Nikes 3 years ago, ergo he is no star. Bosh doesn’t have a line of shoes, so there’s another “star” player Miami fans think they have but really don’t.

Keep buying whoever currently sells Lebron James shoes, Florida, because that’s the lone economic value of your state. Your college graduates are a joke. You have no natural resources. The money from the shoe/apparel contracts of your “universities” and “colleges” is nothing short of embarrassing.

  18. kavika6 - Dec 28, 2012 at 1:35 AM

Completely classless. I’m sure it has something to do with the bad company he keeps (lebron).

  19. BigBeachBall - Dec 28, 2012 at 2:53 AM

Didn’t know Dyanne Wade ran a women’s self defense class in the offseason…

  20. sabatimus - Dec 28, 2012 at 5:14 AM

Let’s be honest here: he kicked him in the testicles. In a sports world that freely talks about ligament tears, concussions, heart murmurs, spinal injuries, and paralysis, at least we ought to be able to call it what is truly is.

  21. cantonbound13 - Dec 28, 2012 at 5:51 AM

He’s scum. Just ask his ex wife.

  22. cantonbound13 - Dec 28, 2012 at 6:10 AM

Kurt is just relieved that LeBron’s testicles are ok.

  23. cranespy - Dec 28, 2012 at 6:57 AM

Remember when DWade came out of Marquette and made that first title run in Miami….back then he was respected as a leader. More often than not he was held in high regard league wide…….what a difference a few years make…..I recall full well when he ridiculed an opponent for being sick. Rather than being a leader he has allowed the Clown Prince of Basketball to rub off on him. He NEVER dissed opponents with those sideline and pre/post game antics back then.

Watch it all implode when they don’t win back to back this year. DWade sold his CHARACTER for a title….but it wont be 5…..6… 7…..or ….8…..it will be one.

  24. 1972wasalongtimeago - Dec 28, 2012 at 7:43 AM

Guys. Guys. Calm down. Was it “dirty”? Maybe. Was it “less than clean”? Absolutely. Was it as bad as what JR Smith, Dwight Howard, and Gerald Henderson did on the same night of the Wade/Sessions play? Not even close. Those guys committed fragrantly violent fouls that could have effected the seasons/careers of the guys they fouled. Sessions was barely even touched.

But hey, whatever. He could use a game off anyway.

    • cantonbound13 - Dec 28, 2012 at 8:11 AM

For a grown man to kick another grown man in the balls is so pathetic & a true bitch move. This is actually worse than his other cheap shots on Kobe, Collison & Rondo. Not only was it dirty but proves his lack of class. Just like his comments after 911 & his bitching about being in trafic after a devistating Hurricane. Wade is an immature, whiney bitch & his true character is comming out. I have to give credit to LeBron, he has grown up & is much more mature. Dwhine Wade should look to him for advice. I guess some fans have taken on his immaturity & lack of class.

    • rtfinch - Dec 28, 2012 at 9:23 AM

Kind of like the Wade fouls on Collison, Rondo, and Hamilton that could’ve caused career ending injuries. Or just the classless mockery of Dirk. This wasn’t the action, it was all of those adding up and him finally getting punished.

And im surprised you’re not up in arms of a 6-3 208 lbsReggie Jackson just recklessly barreling through an innocent 6-8 250 lbs Lebron James just standing his ground. Vlade would be proud of him drawing offensive fouls.

    • scalfor3 - Dec 28, 2012 at 11:08 AM

Yes, but this is a superstar blatantly taking a petty cheap shot at someone. That’s a big story. There’s nothing more cowardly than one man kicking another in the nuts

  25. fanofevilempire - Dec 28, 2012 at 7:48 AM

LeBron should have a very stern discussion with Wade about his behavior.
