Really? The current Laker team has been together a quarter of a season, with one major piece out and another coming off of back surgery. Funny how you neglect to mention that Howard’s contract expires after this year just like Bynum’s. You can rank Howard and Bynum as the two best centers in the league in any order you want, but I’d still take the one who can put on a uniform and play.

Where would he go? What team would have the resources after signing him to add the pieces needed to make a run at a title? Within a couple of years the Lakers will have lots of room to wheel and deal and reload around Howard.

Should D’Antoni figure out how to keep Bryant from throwing up 35 or 40 shots a game for no good reason, they stand an excellent chance of being competitive now. Howard can’t sign anywhere for more money and years than he can in L.A.

Gasol is 32 years old. The events on your horizon all seem to be dead ends, lacking any factual data.

usually if you make a trade and one players starts the season playing and the other player hasn’t put on a uni,then one team obviously got the better end of the deal. D12 will have a great carrer in LA and see the heat in the finals. Magic will be a lottery team for the next 5-7 years. The sixers will continue to be a 7- 8 seed and get bounced from the playoffs in the fist round while bynum knees keep deteriorating by the second.

I don’t like the idea of the Sixers investing any significant amount of money in this guy next season. It’s hard to imagine any team offering him a max deal but I don’t doubt some team will at offer him more than he deserves, which would be more money that the Sixers should give him. His heart ain’t in it let alone his knees. He is a head case and not capable of leading a team. Prime example of a guy with a ton of talent that will never play to his potential.

When are you going to stop spinning your posts to be so negative when its obvious that NO ONE will compete with the sixers after the season to sign Bynum and they’ll get him at a huge discount compared to what he would’ve gotten had he been playing. He won’t get franchise player money so there’s no risk in signing him. It drives me nuts that you write these posts being completely ignorant to the fact that we HAD to get rid of Iggy’s contract. He’s a role player who was getting franchise player money and his contract was stunting Philly’s growth. Iggy’s contract had to go and getting Bynum was simply a bonus. We don’t care about Bynum. You can’t miss what you never had and until he plays it’ll always feel like we didn’t get him in that trade.

Too early to tell:
76′ers – We still don’t know if Bynum plays this year and if he stays.

Lakers – Really depends on if Dwight Howard bolts from the Lakers. My guess is that if the Lakers make it at least to the second round of the playoffs, Dwight will stay. If not, he’ll leave because Kobe, Nash, and Pau are all 34 and older, so their odds of winning don’t go up as those core guys get older

Nuggets – This team has struggled this season, but it’s possible they finish the year strong and end up a higher seed than the Lakers, in which case Nuggets win the trade.

The Sixers knew the risk when they got him.. But it’s pretty lame of them to still have Bynum all over their ads and such to sell tickets to games he won’t be playing in.. I didnt mind them gettin rid of Iggy in the deal because they had to see what they really have in E.T., but in hindsight they could have a gotten a better deal elsewhere

The magic came out with the best part of the deal. They’re a 500 team with a ton of cap space at the end of the year. Sixers took a risk but it would’ve been much worse had Bynum been under contract for more than one year. They should just trade him now for Kaman or Hickson straight up and forget about it.

i dont know why everyone says that. The sixers obviously were as god as they were going to be wit iggy. so even if bynum doesnt work out then he walks and you clear cap space. im happy either way
