Looks to me like this headline should have a big “IF” in the front of it. Bucher is simply speculating and says as much. He is not “reporting” a rumor, but creating one.

Nowhere in that heap of words does Bucher actually ‘report’ that the Magic ‘plan to trade Redick.’

Ugh.

This is why I don’t even bother with this website most days.

And the Magic would be stupid to trade Redick for a hit-or-miss prospect and/or a who-the-hell-knows draft pick. Anybody who has watched the Magic play this year knows he’s the team’s MVP so far. The Magic could do a lot worse than keep Redick in Orlando throughout his prime while they build this team.

At eric… You’re absolutely right. Last season and this season he has blossomed into more than a spot up 3pt shooter.
His Defense is solid which is a huge improvement from his first 3 seasons. can run a pick and roll, drive in from a pump fake then spot up n shoot or keep driving and make the right pass/play, Cuts to the basket and gives you 100% on every possession. Oh and he is a 91% FT shooter.
If he is traded, he will be missed. Great player!

Yes, JJ is more than just a shooter. He also can pass, defend, and move without the ball quite well. He can play PG in a pinch. Hope other team recognize it as well…

You clearly haven’t seen JJ play recently. Not only is he a great shooter he is a solid team defender as well as a facilitator on offense. He doesn’t get near enough credit for what he does. Also I wouldn’t be so sure he will be moved.

I enjoy it when fans play gm. When they see a guy like Redick, they see sharpshooter and outside threat in the likeness of Kyle Korver and Steve Novak. If you’ve watched the Magic, you can see that he’s not just those things but an excellent ball mover and cutter. In fact, Jacque Vaughn has been able to initiate his sets through this guy. Korver is a stationary shooter without much else to his game.

Twolves could still use outside shooting, especially with Budinger down for a while. Could take the pressure off while Shved develops his shot. Got to see him play earlier this year and really dig how his game is continuing to develop.

As a Cavs fan, I’d love to Redick come here to play. He would be a great addition in terms of what they need and what he offers.

However, if I’m being objective, Memphis would be a great fit and I hope it happens. As a connected thought, I have liked what I have seen from Josh Selby and I think it would be good for him to head to Orlando as part of the trade somehow. I think he just needs a chance to get some minutes and it doesn’t seem likely to happen with the Grizzlies.

With the way Bellinelli is playing, the Bulls already have a much better replacement for Korver. And when Rose comes back, back court minutes are going to be hard to come by. I don’t think Thibs has much use for 2 sharpshooters that aren’t much use on defense.

Besides, I’d rather keep Rip. He gives them some offense and some defense, rather than having to choose between offense only with Bellinelli and defense only with Butler.
