Melo doesn’t work in the post….he works from the high post to the three point line. Also, the Knicks only weakness so far has been rebounding & dry spells on offense when Melo sits. Although Amare has never been known for his rebounding, he’s still good for 8 rebounds a game that they don’t get now & there is probably never gonna be a time when neither Amare or Melo won’t be on the floor. Adding Amare also will give the PG’s a whole other option on offense in the pick & roll…..the mere fact that Kidd (the smartest player in the league in my opinion) went to NY tells me that it can & will work.

Stop bashing D’Antoni. He’s a great offensive coach who never got the players that fit his system. The Knicks roster has always been a much better fit for Woodson. If they had acquired Deron Williams or Chris Paul instead of Carmelo, they would’ve been just as successful.

The Knicks’ current system is working very well, and STAT’s return will change that. There won’t be much space for Melo in the post. That, of course, doesn’t mean he’ll stop being effective, but he won’t be as dominant as he’s been so far. The team is likely to take a step back before getting better.

the wins against the Heat are moot? They will have even more offensive firepower and actually providing Chandler some weak side help defense and help on the boards makes the Heat even less likely to beat us.

In 2012, Mike D’Antoni’s record with the Knicks was 18-24 before he resigned. Mike Woodson took over and has gone 36-11 (his regular season record for both last year and this year). Over the course of 40-something games each, it appears Mike Woodson has made better use of the talent available. When STAT returns to the lineup, the logical presumption is that Woody will make better use of his talents too. When that happens, will Kurt’s next article be “Shumpert’s return may cause the Knicks to implode”?

Yeah, right.

When Woody has the entire team available, it’s the rest of the east that should be put on notice. Think I’m wrong? – ask Kobe.

8-2….that’s the only stat concerning Amare’s return that actually matters. Prior to that, there were D’antoni & really no PG. These will not be factors on THIS years team…..Knicks are actually gonna get even better.

Woody is running the team, not the other way around, I think Stat will come off the bench
be the feature scorer of the second unit. We know what they can do without Stat, he has
to do what Woody says anyway. Let’s see how it goes.

Man Kurt, your Knicks bashing is right up there with Barkley in terms of absurdity. Does the fact that they are currently 18-5 keep you up at night? We get it, the Heat are a better team. They are the defending champs. Must you bring them up in each and every Knicks article? Time will tell us whether or not Melo and STAT can truly coexist, but reading between the lines, it is blatantly obvious you want them to fail. Pretty weak coming from a “journalist”.

Woodson will make it work … They looked great under him last season even though it was 10 games. Stat and melo looked like they were feeding off each other and starting to gel under a non retarded d’atoni system. To bad injuries stopped them from playing together more. We need stat becayse then we wont rely to much on 3pointers and melo.
