So you’re basically criticizing Melo for having a good supporting cast. Not sure that’s fair, especially because Lebron has Bosh, Wade and Ray Allen. Those guys aren’t too shabby, and they probably demand more defensive attention than anyone on the Knicks (besides Melo, of course).

You could argue LeBron has the same defensive impact Chandler does. And then he’s the best playmaker, rebounder, and scorer.

That’s how you define MVP…and that’s why D-Rose won (more of a bitterness towards LBJ). But like Chicago, the Knicks’ success comes from a great defensive system, good coaching, and a productive bench. Melo, like DRose, can miss games and the team still does well.
I define it based on how contenders (because good players on crap teams don’t really get considered) play without their superstar in the game…that’s the definition of valuable to me. And Miami has the biggest dropoff with LBJ on the bench.That’s why I also take LBJ over Durant.

Kidd, Chandler and the Knicks overall have improved significantly from last year.
LeBron is the MVP not just because he’s the best in the league right now, but the Heat have been terrible when he’s on the bench and elite when he’s in there. On both sides of the ball.
That’s just how I define MVP. Tyson Chandler, to me, has LBJ’s impact for NY.
