The Definition of understanding “FUNDAMENTALS”

You can’t accuse LeBron of not caring, but at some point this Miami team needs to start defending with zeal- and the real problem is 2nd level rotations being late or non-existent at this point. Five men on a string, as they say.

It’s called leading by example. If Lebron thinks the Heat need to put in extra work and get better he should be the first one to do it, as he did last night. Any coach would tell you that if the best player on your team is also your hardest worker the rest of your team has a much better chance to follow suit. What Lebron did last night is exactly what any coach would want from the leader of their team. Props to Lebron.

Bosh is a different story. You know what you’re getting on defense from him. On offense, I think the Heat need to use him better. He’s the perfect antidote to Tyson Chandler…he can pull Chandler away from the rim with his midrange shooting, and can take Chandler one on one from out there. He also rolls really well on picks, which forces Chandler to stay back on the ballhandler.

The Heat’s offense is still confused with regards to whether they want to just have Wade and Lebron penetrate and find open shooters, or to run pick and rolls with Bosh.
It should depend on who they play.

But ultimately, their defense needs to improve. THeir offense will never be terribly efficient, but if they can hold teams to under 100 points, they can usually win in the 4th b/c of their superior athletiscm & fitness, and ability to grind opponents down. They simply cannot let good teams can on crazy streaks in the 3rd quarter. Miami is not built to come back from 20 down, they’re built to grind things out and cause turnovers late in the game.
