Knicks Camby has plantar fasciitis, could be out a while

Marcus Camby has only played in six games for the Knicks this season, and he had limited minutes in those games. And Knicks fans are not going to see the guy slated to lighten Tyson Chandler’s role on Wednesday or Thursday either.

In fact it may be a while, he has been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis after an MRI of his sore left foot over the weekend, as tweeted by Al Iannazzone of Newsday among others.

For those unfamiliar (which is not many NBA fans at this point), plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot. It makes it painful to do things like run or jump. Which turns out are pretty essential to playing basketball, even at Camby’s age.

The only real treatment is rest (there are other things that help, but rest is the key). Camby has been getting that. He’s going to get more.

His absence hasn’t hurt the Knicks too much yet, but they could use another big who can block shots and has a nice midrange game. But with Camby’s history of nagging injuries, best to get him 100 percent before bringing him back.
