That’s about 1700 points a season, which is what he scored during his rookie year, and last year in the lock-out shortened season. Even if he doesn’t have to score as much as in Cleveland, I don’t see him dropping under 20 ppg so fast… So IF he stays healthy and IF he continues to put the ball in the hole consistently over 2000 points a season, he should not only be able to break that record but to improve it by about one year.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s Kobe’s forcing shots led to the Lakers’ losing or the Lakers’ losing led to Kobe’s forcing shots. What matter is that when Kobe forces shots the Lakers lost.

Instead of exhausting yourself playing 1 on 5 on offense, share the offensive work load with your teammates and save some energy to play defense. Arron Affalo wouldn’t score a season high 30 points if Kobe put some resistance in the perimeter. Toney Douglas wouldn’t get an wide open 3 if Kobe got back on defense after his missed shot.

I have a feeling that you will see a pattern develop. When a guy who shoots efficiently scores a ton of points, his team is more likely to win….It’s not rocket science.

And yes, when Kobe ball-hogs, the Lakers do worse than normal. Kobe is a tremendous player but the Lakers are not a championship team when Kobe is running isos for himself all game long.

In those games he likely scores more but it’s a result of the game and not the other way around.
