The Nets (twice), Celtics, ad Hawks. Maybe not murderer's row, but if you don't believe the Nets are for real, you haven't been watching. All three Miami losses were on the road to teams ranked in the top six of these very official "power rankings".

Memphis is balling, but power rankings reflect not just the full body of work but current trends. the current trend for Memphis is a loss to a conference rival. Sorry, but that warrants a drop. They haven't earned benefit of the doubt beyond that.

How in the world is Nets ahead of the Knicks??? They've been routed 2x by Miami. The Kevin Loveless wolves beat them at home...as well as the Raptors. The Knicks have one less loss, better victories (Heat & Spurs), and their only "bad" loss came on the road in Houston.....c'Mon man....I guess the Knick hate from this guy will never end.

So far (and it's REALLY early), there's the top tier:
Heat, Thunder, Spurs, Grizzlies, Nets, Knicks, Clippers, and Hawks
You can rank those teams however you want, but those are the consensus top-4 East and top-4 West teams right now.

Below them, you have the 8 teams who are around 0.500 right now but people believe will eventually get better and will be factors in the playoffs
Celtics - need Rondo back and young guys like Green to be consistent
Lakers - need to get healthy and start to gel
76'ers - need Bynum to be a factor in the post-season
Nuggets - the potential is there, but they haven't consistently put it together yet
Pacers - need Granger back
Timberwolves - Need Rubio back and Love at 100%
Bulls - miss D-Rose and need their new bench to get better
Mavericks - really miss Dirk

Then last there are a few, "Looks like they can surprise everyone" teams with luck and good health
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Milwaukee Bucks
Utah Jazz

Then the rest are surefire lottery teams.

Miami almost slides up by default. That Spurs win was U-G-L-Y, but a great win against Brooklyn. I'm not so convinced that the Nets won't be the 2nd best team in the East when it's all said and done. They are defending so well and getting great ball movement. They made a fan out of me with the intensity they brought to Miami Saturday night.
