Kobe Bryant; “I’ll kick everybody’s ass in this locker room” to turn team around

Kobe Bryant is a little frustrated.

Okay, a lot frustrated. He’s pissed off.

And he should be after the Lakers Swiss-cheese defense was picked apart by the struggling Magic as they beat the Lakers Sunday night. The Lakers problems are not simple — it’s not just Pau Gasol not being comfortable, it’s not just Dwight Howard’s free throws, it’s not just Steve Nash being injured, it’s not just the bench, it’s not just the defense. It’s all of it together.

Kobe’s answer to any challenge is to work harder. That has been the modus operandi of his career and it has worked pretty well. And that is at the core of his rant after the Lakers ugly loss Sunday night, via Joe McDonald at Fox Sports West.

“I’ll kick everybody’s ass in this locker room if it doesn’t happen,” Bryant said after a 113-103 loss to the Orlando Magic at Staples Center. Yes, the 6-10 Orlando Magic. “It’s the attitude you have to have. Metta (World Peace) is the same way. Dwight (Howard) has it in him as well. Even though he smiles a lot, he cares a lot about this. Come hell or high water, this has to get done.”

Howard cares, but he still seems unsure of himself in this setting with this pressure. Insecurity was never Kobe’s problem. Howard needs to pick up that lesson from Kobe.

Bryant’s rant eventually moved on to Gasol and his struggles, with Gasol not feeling comfortable in Mike D’Antoni’s offense and not getting touches in the post. Kobe said he had to put on his “big boy pants.”

“Pau has to make some adjustments, obviously, to his game. He might not be posting up as much as he likes, but he just has to adjust.

“The reality is, I’ve adjusted. I’ve never run this many screen-and-rolls in my entire life. But I’ve worked on it. I’ve worked on handling the ball; worked on coming off screens and making plays. I’m used to being in the post much, much more. You have to adjust; you have to master what it is we’re trying to do here. Pau’s talented enough and good enough to be able to do that.”

Pau is talented enough, but he also was benched the final six minutes of the game (his second fourth-quarter benching under D’Antoni). Which is just going to fuel trade speculation. But the Lakers aren’t moving on that front yet, wanting to see if Gasol adjusts and how things look when Steve Nash returns (which is more than a week away).

Kobe wants that sixth ring. Badly. And with this roster he thinks he has a shot at it. His leadership style is tough love, but with the Lakers struggling expect a lot more tough and a lot less love in the short term.

I would love to see Kobe kick his team’s ass. That would be better than a Laker Thunder game.

Any suns fan in AZ can tell you Nash has been breaking down with injuries and has become turnover prone the past two seasons. His last play as a sun was a turnover, sorry laker fans Nash is not the answer.

This tea will not win if Jerry is not around. His pathetic son got D Antoni instead of Jackson. This team is full of stars not bench players. D’ Antoni can only coach bench players. Jackson would’ve been the man for the job.

Lakers got D’Antoni because eogotistical Jackson, “I will tell you when”…Kobe needs a mirror. Jacking up some of those rediculous shots is outright selfish, but it is easier to blame it on Pau.

You will get frustrated when you are the 4th best team in california and probably remain that way for the rest of the decade. BTW, did Kobe change his taste from White women?

    • bozosforall - Dec 3, 2012 at 9:35 PM

      Get lost, racist.

      • dko83 - Dec 4, 2012 at 3:17 AM

Coming from one of the biggest homophobes on here. That’s rich.

      • bozosforall - Dec 4, 2012 at 7:51 AM

Homophobe? Just calling them as I see them. No hatred involved.

    • 24thesho - Dec 4, 2012 at 8:01 AM

I thought Vanessa was Latina. Mexican, actually. She’s clearly not that white, unless you are referring to another woman he was or is dating.

    1. Kobe takes one swing at Metta. One.
    2. Pau kicks Kobe in the groin while Kobe is an unconscious, bloody mess on the floor.
    3. Kobe wakes up in ER, tells the press, “Did you see how badly I kicked his a**?”
    4. Stern fines the Spurs.
    5. Laker schedule adjusted so they don’t face any over-.500 teams except on Christmas Day.
    6. Stern gives Lakers a free pass into The Finals.
    7. Spurs complain, Stern fines them again.

    • bozosforall - Dec 4, 2012 at 8:09 AM

Nothing wrong with trying to be the greatest. As opposed to someone like you, still living in your mom’s basement at 40

      • dko83 - Dec 4, 2012 at 12:34 PM

If I had to venture a guess, I’d say you’re describing yourself. Only pathetic, lonely, sociopathic trolls post under multiple names. Keep trying!

      • bozosforall - Dec 4, 2012 at 10:32 PM

Multiple names? I only post under this screen name. No need for any others.

      • bozosforall - Dec 4, 2012 at 10:33 PM

Sure, Pee Wee…use the “I know you are but what am I” line.

      • dko83 - Dec 5, 2012 at 2:44 AM

Do I start copying and pasting the two names that use the same words, punctuation, sentence structure…? Because I’d love to draw this out. Be more pathetic, scrub.

      • bozosforall - Dec 5, 2012 at 3:48 AM

Go ahead and try. I will enjoy watching you waste your pathetic time and energy doing so.

  10. beelza - Dec 4, 2012 at 5:37 AM

Kobe thinks he’s JPP from the NY Giants. Go ax Kobe how my ass tase.

  11. omniusprime - Dec 4, 2012 at 9:14 AM

So begins the Dumbtoni destruction of the LA Lakers. See how Dumbtoni’s losing system of offense and no defense already has the Lakers sniping at each other. Kobe should be frustrated, not at Pau for not instantly figuring out Dumbtoni’s idiotic offense but at Dumbtoni for not knowing how to best use Gasol’s many talents. How stupid is Dumbtoni for not using 7 foot Pau more posting up?

It all started with the little idiot buss boy bringing in two totally ignorant coaches who have no clue how to run the Lakers, well except how to run the Lakers into the ground. A real shame that the little idiot buss boy didn’t pick Phil Jackson, we Laker fans would be enjoying multiple victories in a row and a feeling of destiny for another championship. Now all we have to look forward to is next season, maybe – if the little idiot buss boy doesn’t screw that up too.

Fire Dumbtoni NOW!!! We Want Phil!!!
