Former Magic coach Stan Van Gundy knows a thing or two about fitting in with Dwight Howard, and like most coaches around the league he realizes that talent wins. He also realizes Pau Gasol is talented. And so when asked by NBC Sports Radio host Erik Kuselias about it Van Gundy sounds like a coach — “hey, lets give this some time and see how it works with Steve Nash back before we jump to conclusions.”

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated was on NBC’s SportsTalk on the NBC Sports Network and reiterates what most of us are hearing — the Lakers are going to follow that advice. For now. But things could well change in a month or two. Especially if the Lakers find a trade deal they like.

I agree, the LAKERS have to wait and see. However, my concern is even with Nash at the point, Pau is still going to get the same shots he’s getting now. If he’s not making them now, why should the LAKERS expect him to make them with Nash passing him the ball? Pau’s missing open shots. How much more open can he get? The LAKERS need a PF who can make the shots that Pau is missing.

I stopped watching once the commentors suggested a trade of Gasol to the Celtics in a package that centered around Jeff Green…….and then added Jeff Green is playing well this season, when most Celtics fans I know are wondering where Jeff Green from the preseason has been and has been bad during the regular season.

Jeff Green?!! Boston can keep that crap. If the LAKERS hold on to Pau to see how he plays with Nash that would be a good move. If he doesn’t play better trade him at the deadline. My concern is even with Nash at the controls, Pau will still get the ball in the same spots he’s getting it in now. He’s missing open shots because the ones he’s getting are out of his range. .

Just plugging Nash in won’t change that. The LAKERS need a PF that can make outside shots.

Bargnani and Derozan for Pau. Bargnani can shoot outside and work pick and roll (Mike D’s Offense) and Derozan can play the 3 or off the bench behind Kobe as a pick and roll cutter cause he can’t shoot the 3 that well
