Stunning news: Kobe Bryant will play despite fighting flu

When it was announced that Kobe Bryant was a game-time decision on Tuesday for the Lakers, we dutifully reported it. He had the flu, that can wipe people out and keep them in bed, and it was news. We passed it along.

But did anybody really think Kobe wasn’t going to lace them up and play?

Nope. And in his pregame press conference coach Mike D’Antoni confirmed that Kobe would play and start against the Pacers. D’Antoni would be wise to keep his minutes in check, but with Steve Nash still out the Lakers are not exactly flush with playmakers. Kobe is pretty much it.

Kobe playing sick is not good news for the Pacers, when challenged Kobe unusually rises up with a quality game. And he’s already been very efficient this season.
