Good lord, bro. Pop is beloved by those players. He is somehow both a master disciplinarian AND a player’s coach. Well, the second part is probably only true because he and RC only find players who want to be a part of the Spurs way. I can’t ever stop thinking that his time in military intelligence has given him a unique set of tools that help define his lofty status in the basketball coaching fraternity.

What sane person would say Phil Jackson isn’t a great coach??

Popovich and Karl’s teams are joys to watch, and both certainly have a way of getting their point across via the media. Both great coaches, too.

Why is it Pop is considered such a great coach and Phil doesn’t get enough credit for being a great coach? Phil’s critics say, “he coached MJ, Shaq, Kobe and Pip. But why don’t those same critics ever mention that Pop won all his titles with the greatest power forward ever and 3 more HOF players. Granted the Admiral was only there for the 2 of those titles, Pop has had Manu and Parker for their whole careers. I’m not intimating that Pop is not a great coach. I’m just questioning why some try to minimize what Phil has achieved. Is it because Phil didn’t stomp up and down the court and scream at his players? I don’t recall the great John Wooden doing that either.
